Question / Suggestion : Gil selling tells/whispers and getting rid of this rubbish.

Is there a quick way to report and silence a spammer who is constantly spamming you with their rubbish ? Other than copy paste their faceroll gibberish of a nick into your blacklist .

Is there a way to set yourself to not be visible in search results ? Or fine tune the searches so that a player would actually need to know something about you to find you in a search result.
As far as I can tell its too easy to search and thus spam players, and these spammers have no social conscience and do not care if they are ruining your game or not.

These parasites on society are the bane of all MMO's and I find it curious that developers never seem to take them seriously as a threat to their customers and overall subscription base.

Whilst they are painful to have to endure, Square Enix have assured us that they are working to minimise the impact that these "Gil selling services" have upon the community. It's a tricky business though, and Square Enix can't post particulars about what they are doing, otherwise the scammers will be able to change their algorithms.

If you use Urthdgger's method for direct Tells, that should work for you.

I have, however noticed that there has been a drop in scammer messages in the past couple of weeks.

As someone already mentioned ' /blacklist add <r> ' is a good way to quickly get rid of Tell Spammers. To add to that, you can make it a macro and put it on your hotbar and it will work instantly instead of having to type it out each time.

Can I add, remind them of the ToS, tell them to go to church, help the poor, or if they are poor, go jump off a building because we aint buying. Oh, also you can ask them for gil(nicely)

But you can skip all this because it's too much work and won't help. Make a macro.

they have been removed until recently i noticed a number trying to crawl their way back into Leviathan last night, i will go hunting for them today and report report report. Please take time to report them each time you see one just takes about a minute. That way we can get this scum out of our lovely world. I wish we could PK them i would be happy to form hunting parties to swarm them if it were easy to find them. They are very sneaky and if you Tel them back they run away fast.

Cant you just do us a solid and add a blacklist option when you click their names? Is that really such a hard thing to do? Instead of 3 options, 4? 1. Send Tell, 2. Invite to party, 3. Send Friend Request, 4. Blacklist.... Ive got around 50 on my list so far and only a couple have been deleted. Considering this is a constant nuisance, and probably your number one sub killer at the moment, maybe you could just do this one little thing.

I heard they were planning to add that, for both blacklist and report, but I'm not sure when. (Actually, it was a while ago that I heard about it. I would have expected it to be in by now, but apparently not.)

On a more positive note, at least SE has done a good job on getting rid of most of the ones that had been spamming the /shout channel. The spammers who are left have to rely on /tell, which at least slows them down a bit.

Bear in mind that replying to RMTs can get your account flagged for suspicious activity. Just blist, report, and move on
