"Now Loading" screen effect while game controls still functional

In-Game Time: Unsure, Daytime
Steps:
1. Died after being hit by an Inferno Drake's ranged attack.
2. Hit return, character rose up.
3. Was attacked by Redwing Ked before zoning back to Camp Broken Water.
4. Arrived at Camp Broken Water KO'd.
5. Hit return.
6. "Now Loading..." screen came up, but remained for an extended period of time.
7. Shut down FFXIV manually.
8. Logged back into FFXIV, "Now Loading..." screen came up, and remained.
9. Attempted to fix the problem, apparently game controls were still active behind the "Now Loading" screen effect. Everything invisible except menu cursor.
10. Logged out (only because I knew "Log Out" was at the very bottom of the menu), logged back in, and game went back to normal ("Now Loading..." screen effect disappeared after the usual amount of time.)
