    Well I just tried to get rid of the stuttering with a SSD. Deinstalled the game and installed it on the SSD. It's not the primary partition tho. It's just a data partition for now. On a side note, reinstalling the game didn't fix the directx crash stuff.

    I couldn't switch the IDE mode in the BIOS to AHPI(?) can't remebemer the right letters right now :P My windows kept crashing everytime it tried to boot.

    Tomorrow I will kill my windows, install the naked Win 7 on the SSD + FFXIV on it and every other application goes on the secondary partition. Since I will do a tabula rasa, I hope that will fix some issues.

    Boooo. Gotta get all my serial keys together now >< got damn it.

    I'm anxious that the stuttering occurs cause of the RAM limitations and not the slow HDD poking... I doubt SE will change those RAM limitations >_>;

    AHCI, and changing that will cause your Windows to crash unless you install the drivers.
    So, if you are doing a clean install tomorrow, the fist thing you should do is set the controller to AHCI in BIOS and then proceed to install.

    Here is a good guide on tweaks to do with running your OS on a SSD.

    I ran games off a raid setup of Raptor disks and experienced slight stuttering when first entering a new area with lots of people. After changing to a SSD I no longer experience any stuttering related to disk loading.
