    Diremite/Velveteen What's The Big Deal?

So hey, I just got into my 20's on Weaver and found that I had reached the dreaded Diremite Web stage, no biggie though I have been doing the triple hand in leve's that give you 10 webs each time and the gloves leve from the same guy and got 100 diremite webs in not much time at all..

But I was looking at the markets and I am trying to work out what the big deal is here? is it solely because RMT sell the webs? or am I missing something? cos velveteen gear doesn't seem all that different from other gear i've been making ie. the jump from hempen > cotton .. isnt much differnt cotton > velveteen

Anywhore now i can reliably make HQ Dew Thread and HQ velveteen I am wondering what is the big deal? What's the bigger picture? And should i be selling HQ Velveteen or making some gear i have not seen yet?

Those leves in Quarrymill don't always give diremite webs. You have to catch them at the right time. Also I believe they increased the web drop rate recently, so they are not as hard to get as they use to be.

Well, Diremite Web isn't much a problem anymore, wait until you get to Fleece stage.

Haha I am in the middle of the Fleece stage and I truely hate it. Most people in Coerthas are very egoistic on my Server because they want to sell them. My poor weaver needs a tons of them for himself but it only makes sense to farm them very early on the Weekend.

I try to help myself out with Leves from Adventurer Guild Level 40 in Ul'dah. You only get 6 fleeces but they also have the "bring me 3 of them and then 3 again and 3 more" quest there so you can get 18 fleeces with one quest and it's also good for levelling.

Oh and watch out while you are in the Diremite stage. The quest in Quary mills where you need 3 items and can craft 6 more is not really that good for gathering Diremite webs because some of the items you need to craft these items is coming from Diremite webs lol. You need even 2 of them if I recall correctly so in fact you only get 6 Diremite webs per quest. At higher levels, this isn't too much of a problem anymore to gather the items you need but when you are in that range (Level 25+), it can hurt having to use the items you need to get the items you need lol. I used to stick with the quests that give you 10 (or was it 11) webs for one item. Takes longer but on a long road, you get more of them.

I don't find Wool or Felt (though admittedly, Snurble Tufts were always plentiful) particularly troublesome anymore. :x

Then again, I am a White Mage who pulls all the sheep and bombard them with Holy. I've found that the sheep on the cliffs just slightly northwest of Camp Dragonhead are rarely camped. Tried your luck with those spawns? Either that or Phoenix is all kinds of suck.

so no answer to my OP then? basically they're not special just everyone camps them thats why they cost so much?

like i said in my OP, i am not worried about obtaining them or the price i was just wondering why they were so expensive in the first place ie. was there something i was missing.. thanks for the replies

One reason is the demand for the said item. I haven't done any "gathering" for the mats to level up so I can't say for myself that it's hard to get it or what.

This is what I did. Generally when people see a White Mage at that camp, they're smart enough not to try and compete. Generally.

Regarding the Velveteen, it was a phase of weaving that is cumbersome prior to the hotfix.

There were few places that Diremite Webs dropped and most people did not know about the Quarrymill leves / unlucky with the leve reward.

The prices you see may be a lingering effect of those times until the market gets crashed.
