    Odin question

My level 37 full up to level HQ geared BLM hits Odin harder than my level 50 paladin. Plus I'm guaranteed to be on my feet 100% of the time. Since there is no level warning or syncing and I'm hitting him harder than my pal would which should I use?

Post edit.... I got a chance to try 38 BLM vs Odin no party and I got gold.

For testing purposes I just did a level 48 fate as level 38 BLM. I was NOT in a party and did max DPS since the boss was full health. I got GOLD but my EXP gain was nerfed to be on par with my level. Since I'm assuming mantle drops would not be nerfed and gold is gold Lvl 38 BLM would be better than 50 PAL.

The problem with Odin and Behemoth is that even if you're there RIGHT when they're pulled, and you're on your feet the full duration, you'll still most likely end up with Bronze or Silver medals especially given the level disparity. You'll most likely never hit for full damage, if you hit for damage at all, since he's over level 50 (55 or 56, I think). Those FATEs are very, VERY picky on doling out rewards, and party progress seems to be the only real way to get a higher reward. Also just being able to SEE him is enough of a problem for most everyone there, so all you're really doing is putting another character model in the area to load that's not actually adding anything meaningful to the fight and possibly risking them losing their target lock.

Firstly I think Odin is a different breed of fate as there is no sync ability or contribution warning. I don't think the same rules for striking targets above your level apply. I was hitting him every fire 3 and the DPS was for sure higher than my pal which I've done Odin with a few times and I know what I hit for. I agree with you that logic would dictate I have no chance of consistently hitting a target 20 plus levels above me and I would not have believed it if I had not seen with own eyes. If u think about it though it makes sense, considering the fight can be in low lvl area and since there is no contribution warning, that any Lvl attack would make consistent contact but at level equivalent DPS.

You still get resists. Lots of resists. You're not likely to hit HIM for full damage because even a level 50 hits for slightly reduced damage because he's higher level than they are with higher defenses. The level of the FATE is not really the biggest factor in damages and what you're looking at, it's more a matter of what you're fighting and specifically what FATE you're doing. Steropes is a level 39 FATE, Cancer is a level 32 FATE, and Lazy Laurence is a level 20 FATE. All 3 of those hit MUCH harder than other FATE mobs at that level because not only are they single-target boss FATEs, they're also on long respawn timers and have achievements attached to them. Any time you get to Odin or Behemoth you can be assured that almost everyone there will walk away with Bronze or Silver rewards and not Gold. You can take your chances with the large number of AoE you can't see because the boss isn't even visible that WILL one-shot you, but again all you'd really be doing is putting another character model in someone's way that their computer will have to load and risk them losing target on the boss. It would be better to either just switch to your level 50 class, or just wait until you're toon is in the mid-to-late 40s so that you can actually do something worthwhile in the fight.
