This game already holds your hand through everything from beginning to end. It basically plays itself. Why would anyone need a mentor?

Don't assume everyone to be as smart as you are (i'm not kidding, yesterday i got asked where one can receive letters sent to him)
No matter how starter friendly the game is, there will always be people that struggle. And it would be optional, you don't like to answer questions or the function itself, dont activate it. You'll be fine![]()
I was a Mentor on FFXI. I'd be happy to be one again.
Man there are some very jaded and cynical people on here.
I think the idea of a mentor program would be great, but I'd like to see it expanded beyond a simple icon that appears next to your name. Help someone out allow them to rate you. This might deter people just wanting to be a mentor and being well...unhelpful.
the mentor system can be a nice addition to the game.
That's a lot coming from you. Considering how many people you had mentor you when you started. I've yet to have any troubles out of the new players.
This however, is a good idea the mentor system worked in FFXI and could work well here also.
Having mentors would help the newer players out and help get them into the game faster I've met many people who have helped mentor others.
I would suggest making a mentor system with mechanics similar to that of a friends list except showing the name of the mentor and possibly the use of the M icon like was done in FFXI![]()
