I did say anything within that range. Just shift it up to 55-60 range. Or even space it to 70. 90 is just too far a jump.

I think the first level-cap raise will happen in 5 years after we've merited all our classes. We've just passed the 2nd expansion and still debating how to beat ???? '????.
SE is going to say it isn't beatable but there's a trick which would cause a diminutional rift in the game and make it implode. In 2018, the first level-cap raise will be to 100 and we will be exploring the moon.

My belief is the there will be a level cap raise before the first major expansion around 2.3 update. When this cap is raised they better not form me to use a cowl or tin cat armour like they do now if you want any chance at IL90 gear. Tank DL is the reason I refuse to be an EG tank because the set looks horrible. I'll wait for the next set gear passed DL after the cap raise, or spend 4 months getting the PLD or WAR myth tome set after I'm done with SCH and MNK.
I hope that when they do add the newer levels the gear that is crafted will be about on par with the 55+ starter dungeon gear at normal quality level making HQ sit just above that letting you customize your gear more then the current 90% black and white we have now.

You're aware 2.2 will likely be in Summer 2014 for all we know? I hope you meant Summer 2015 for expansion. My guess is that the first level cap raise will come with patch 2.2 to go along with the next part of Binding coil of Bahamut. If there's no level cap raise they my next bet is that it will only happen with the expansion (which I expect to be released next Summer).
Wiki says that too, but I distinctly remember it being December 28th or 29th 2003 that I could get the game, install it, patch it for 3 hours, then play. Zilart was already released, and the cap was 75.- Oct 28, 2003: North American PC ver. released.

I started playing on PS2 at NA launch, and the level cap was not yet 75, but, Zilart was bundled in.
The days of Fatty PS2, External network adapters, and a logitech mini keyboard... good times haha.

I think the level cap will rise when they add new zones and content past 2.2, So could be well into 3.0. There is no real need to raise the level cap at all, and I hate when they do that as it makes gear and content obsolete.
I want SE to take a no orphaned content approach to this game. No matter how much content comes out, old content should still be relative.

I doubt you will see a level cap increase without an expansion. So not until 3.0. Also, I think a year might be a pretty quick turn around. Maybe not. But I would say mid 2015 at the earliest for the first expansion. However, I think we will get some classes added via patches as stated previously.
Yoshi has hinted at story content, so we might see that between expansions as well. We shall see. I'm always up for being surprised.

All I know is:
Give me a new class to play and lvl, I NEEDS it.

City of Heroes only had 2 level cap raises in all its 8 years of existance. 40-50 for heroes in issue 1 and 40-50 in issue 7 for villians. A increase of the level cap will just make people demand another cap increase when they do increase it, to me more content and vanity stuff is more important to me than getting level cap raised to 99 or whatever.

Because of the way job skills are earned, I highly doubt level increases will be as small as increments of 5. They'll need to be +10 or +15 at least, unless they want to cram in more than 1 job quest per 5 levels, which I don't think they do. Also, since the job questlines all ended relatively conclusively, I'd imagine they'd want to write follow-up questlines to be at least 4-5 quests long. Also, the current highest ilvl crafted gear is ilvl 70. Level cap increases would most likely affect crafting/gathering classes as well. Taken together, I predict that the first level cap increase would be to either lv 70 or 75 and there won't be another increase for a long time. This would allow the developers to write robust follow-up job questlines and give crafters access to (current) 2-star recipes while below the new level cap.
I'm of two minds about the effect of a cap increase on ilvl. I think it'd be silly to have ilvls that go further and further above 100 but I also think it's messy to "nerf" the ilvls of existing equipment, even if you don't change the stats at all. Overall, I think I'd prefer the latter though. I don't want to be a lv 75 white mage in full ilvl 250 gear or something ridiculous like that. Just gently rescale the ilvl assignments with each new tier of gear without changing the stats, such that ilvl 90+ is always the current "best".
Level cap increase has been stated to be at the first expansion, don't expect it or new jobs/classes before then. 3.0 expansion will most likely include Ishgard and two of Ala Mhigo, Sharlayan, or Garlemald, whichever makes the most sense. Musketeer is almost a guaranteed lock. Since Limsa is a pirate city, Corsair is a likely job to attach to it. Two or three current classes will get alternate job crystals which may or may not change their role in the "holy trinity". Two or three new classes will have guilds in Ishgard/another new city. Perhaps something holy-related to the religious city of Ishgard? Ninja/Samurai/Thief is currently unrepresented in this game and a likely candidate as well. Feels a bit early for Blue Mage but I could be pleasantly surprised.
