Just because its the fastest doesn't mean you have to torture yourself with them. I'm leveling just fine with dungeons. By the time they raise the cap, I'm sure they'll have more options to level.
Speaking of level cap, I dont get why they're labeling item levels the way they are now. I mean, why isn't WP gear ilvl 51, AK gear ilvl52, dorklight ilvl53, allagan/myth ilvl55 and crystal ilvl 54? Or anything within that range? I'm not really familiar with wow's way of dealing with item level. I mean, this IS their system that yoship copied right? What level cap are they at now and what is the max item level for that level?
Right now we're at lvl 50 with ilvl 90. That's almost double. What happens when we get lvl 60 unlocked? Does the gear at lvl 60 start at ilvl60 or ilvl100? So for people with allagan/myth/darklight, any armor for lvl 51-59 would probably be..useless (if the gear stats is still as boring as it is now)? I honestly dont know where they're going with this. I know lots of people dont like vertical progression when it comes to gear. If yoship's intention from the get go was peaking early and have horizontal progression from then on and have allagan and myth be always viable for a long, long time, I sure hope that, if we ever reach lvl 80 (allagan/myth would still be 10 lvls ahead), all the new gear introduced in expansions and updates are variable enough in effects and stats to make people reel from all the choices.

and stuff
Maybe they haven't planned ahead or simply have 3 digits of ilevel. Hell, they could even lower the ilevels to another benchmark in a patch. It's just a number attached to a piece of gear after all.
If they're going by the gear treadmill, it is inevitable that allagan stuff will become obsolete at the introduction of level cap, or even more coil turns for that matter. Just makes me re-think whether I should farm this stuff before we get closer to level cap. It's also unlikely that gear apart from AFs and relics will be further upgradeable otherwise you'll just be stuck with the same gear from finish to end, just with different tiers of it.
didn't they show in their earlier concept drawings that Ishgard castle is like badly damaged from the calamity?I'm predicting the level cap raise will come with the expansion containing Ishgard where the new class guild will be stationed at.
Maybe they all add a new tank job, new heal job along with Musketeer (which, more than likely, will be a pure ranged DPS class).
Hopping for Ishgard as been wanting to get inside since I first saw it in 1.0 XD
I also remember reading mentioned that there will be a new faction for Ishgard and to enter you need to achieve a certain standing.
Yoshida has confirmed that Ishgard is coming in the first expansion.

FFXI's first expansion pack, Rise of the Zilart, released a year later
- New story arc.
- Raised the Level Cap from 50 to 75
- 4 New jobs: Ninja, Samurai, Dragoon and Summoner
- Added 15+ new zones.
FFXIV maybe under different management but I suspect they will operate within a similar manner. Version 2.2 and 2.3 will probably just build on what's already released in 2.1 (more items, primals and coils/CT) while they focus all their content creation on the expansion pack.

This put the first level cap adjustment 4 months later, and then the 75 increase was 19 months later, then many years to get to the last set of lvcap adjustments.Time Line for FFXI:
- May 16, 2002: PS2 ver. released.
- Aug 8, 2002: Rank 5 Missions (including the Shadow Lord fight) were implemented, but with the level cap at 50, no one had beaten it.
- Sep 12, 2002: The level cap is raised to 55. High Level Notorious Monsters, such as Behemoth, are added to their respective areas.
- Nov 26, 2002: Level cap raised to 60.
- Apr 15, 2003: Rise of Zilart preparation update. The level cap now became 65.
- Apr 17, 2003: Rise of the Zilart goes on sale.
- May 16, 2003: Final Fantasy XI Completes 1 Year of Service
- Jul 17, 2003: The level cap became 70. A new region, Tu’Lia, was unlocked. New HNMs were added (such as King Behemoth).
- Oct 28, 2003: North American PC ver. released.
- Dec 16, 2003: The level cap became 75.
-Feb 2004: Dynamis, Artifact 2 and Relic Weapons were introduced.
They even stated that the rough draft of the expansion has already been submitted. So with that being said I kinda expect the first expansion to be release sometime within 2014 (Realistically around Q3/Q4). I agree they will likely follow the same trend from FFXI.FFXI's first expansion pack, Rise of the Zilart, released a year later

It has also been confirmed that the first draft of the first expansion has been submitted! Obviously there is a lot of work to be done, but at least they are planning for the future!
Fairly sure it has already been said that level cap will come in the next expansion, i.e. 3.0.
2.2 is so incredibly optimistic, considering there is still so much they are still failing to put into 2.1 (wardrobe/cosmetic anyone?) - besides we all know how slow SE are to implement anything.
My guess is that 3.0 is not coming until Q3/4 of 2014.

=>
+ AK/WP won't be cap level dungeons
=> you'll get XP like in other lower level dungeons
=> XP while farming mytho
ilvl X is just lvlX item you can equip underlevel
if they went by ilvl51-54 a "white" lvl55you'd get as reward for quest 55 would be better than allagan
