The company of heroes part of the main quest is not fun AT ALL...

The entire point of that quest line is to prove you're not an impatient dick of a hero and are willing to help people even in the most simply of tasks, like a real hero would do, helping people in any way possible.

Other "go get this" quests yeah they're annoying but game developers need to make the game longer than it is somehow or people reach end game faster and are bored as crap. If I got to end game about a week earlier than I did I'd have canceled my subscription until 2.1 came out. Sucks but is necessary.

While that's the point of the quest the logic behind it is utterly idiotic if you stand back and examine it. Oh, the beastmen are about to summon Titan and hundreds, if not thousands, of people could lose their lives if we don't act fast!!! But first... go get me a sammich with some pickles you can only obtain from an out of the way shop in Gridania and a jar of mustard from a guy in Southern Thanalan who won't sell you it for a ridiculous price until you darn his socks with a thread you can only obtain from a... yadda yadda.
