People abusing party in progress option

So lately, whenever I que for AK or WP there is always some idiot who keeps withdrawing from DF. Why? Because they want to join a party that already has cleared most of the dungeon. I lost count how many times it happened to me in the last few days, it really makes it unplayable for me. I'm a DPS and have to wait at least 10 minutes for a party to fill. But do you know what makes the wait even worse? Yeah, the people I just mentioned.

And I'm not talking about them withdrawing a couple of times, no. They can keep doing it for like 10 minutes straight without taking a break. And during that time I can't craft, can't gather, can't do anything because the DF window keeps popping up.

So please, do something about it. How about a time penalty for people who withdraw more than 3 times?

    Greetings,

The development team is aware of the fact that there are some players who will constantly withdraw when you are being matched with players via the Duty Finder. They plan on implementing countermeasures for this to decrease the frequency in which this happens; however, they will not be able to address this right away as there are other wrapped up with other high priority tasks. On another note regarding this, we do not plan on giving penalties to these players who withdraw when you are getting ready to commence due to the fact that there is a possibility that players who do not have malicious intent could be penalized.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

When someone wants to queue for a party in progress, there shouldn't be a window popping up to start a new one. It should wait until someone request reinforcements. Its really not the fault of the person spamming it.

While I'm sure that's appreciated, I can assure you there are more people abusing it than those that are innocent. In the long run, they will be thanking you even if it means the innocent are caught in the crossfire from time to time. It's no different than a fighting game penalizing a player for disconnecting during a match.

Sure, some people may actually have connectivity issues and disconnect on accident, but ya know what? More people are going to be plugpulling. If it was up to me, I'd do the same thing some of these fighting games do and change their names to red if they kept doing this so when they joined static groups or even randoms in DF, others would know to stay away from him. If that person clears X number of legitimate runs, he can get the original color back for his name.

Lineage 2 had a really great karma system like this. If you were a "bad" person who ran around PKing innocent people (people who didnt fight back) your name would turn red, and the more you continued this behavior the darker red your name got. Eventually you couldn't enter cities without guards murdering you on sight. On the other side, if you were a helpful player, people could +1 you, and the more of these you got, the brighter blue your name got. Everyone else's name is normally white.

Haha. Sounds like Wizardry Online with the criminal system. If you ran around killing whites, you'd have red eyes and people would immediately know you were bad. It was really difficult to go through towns though because the guards would kill you on sight and send you to jail.

Malicious intent or not, there should be a penalty for withdrawing. When you sign up for duty finder you know that when you get a group you need to be ready and enter the dungeon. If you sign up for it and are not ready that is that players fault no matter what their intent is. The penalty doesnt have to be extreme, but a short lockout of 30 seconds (i prefer 5 minutes) or so will at least stop these tanks form spamming it until they get an in progress and ruining the game for everyone else.

Theres no reason to allow these tanks to keep doing this because someone queued and was unprepared and couldnt accept. Because guess what? That DPS that withdrew is already being penalized. They now have to wait another 20-? minutes to get it to pop again. Even healers have waits of 5 minutes or longer. The only ones effected by a short lockout would be the tanks who abuse it.

    so dramatic

having to wait 5 more minutes for a tank that doesnt decline queues is "ruining" the game

    lol

I really don't think that punishing a population of players that is already small is going to have any desired effect. People might avoid the DF just because a punishment was implemented.

But people are finally outgearing content or people have just quit the game altogether. Either way you cut it, the success rate of groups has gotten a lot higher.

More in progress groups lately have been so bad at the game (theres a difference between being new and bad) that I can see why a player left their group. But before then, I get the impression that player that left was pretty terrible or the group was undergeared/had a really bad composition.
