Own games + expansions on PS4... what if I bought ARR for PC?

Hi all, I'm pretty new to the game (just bought the PS4 complete edition a few weeks ago). Something I've been mulling over...

If I have ARR and all of the expansions on PS4, then buy just ARR on PC cheap or maybe stumble on a code for it in a bundle at some point or something... can I play my character on both platforms? If so, what kinds of limitations might be imposed on me?

I don't really want to play seriously on PC, my laptop would probably be scraping the bottom of the system reqs and that's what the PS4 is for... but being able to do basic stuff and non-expansion content would be nice just to goof since I can bring my laptop around with me.

You can play on both but you need expansion as well not just arr on pc I play on both as well just note if have ce on ps4 you only need standard for pc hope that answer your question

Hey, and welcome to XIV! You will need to register the PC version under your existing XIV account. You will only be able to play the content for the expansion(s) you have registered, so if you only have ARR on PC, you won't be able to play any Heavensward or Shadowbringers content on PC, even though you have registered those expansions on PS4.

You could play your character on both platforms so long as you're in ARR areas. You wouldn't be able to access expansion regions or expansion quests while on PC. And I believe you would only get XP on jobs that are below level 50 while playing on PC, though I haven't tested that to be certain.

The lack of expansion region access also means you couldn't log on from your PC if you had last logged out in an expansion region. (There's no feature to automatically port you to a region you can access.)

I'm pretty casual so I'll likely be under level 50 and in ARR areas for a while still. If I did this, I probably wouldn't feel any expansion related limitations for a while and at that point, it may be worth getting the expansions on PC as well (or just being careful what I do/where I log out).

The unfortunate thing is that I already have two service accounts on this Square ID, one with ARR on PC (got it from a bundle a year or two ago, activated but barely used during the trial period) and another with ARR+expansions on PS4. I'd love to merge the two but I'm not sure if any customer support areas/sections/forms accommodate that, unless it was a mistake (which it kinda was-kinda wasn't, I didn't expect to get into the game enough to care though I would've preferred one service account had I thought of it at the time lol) and even then the forms to fill out are confusing and may take weeks to be addressed.

Probably easier to just buy ARR over again and/or wait around for a sale/bundle. Unless you all have any suggestions to merge two service accounts.

I just did this exact same thing so I would beable to lvl other classes and do crafting when I was not home. It works great for me. You can upload your ps4 character HUD and client settings and download them on PC so you can keep your hotbars the same. Just make sure you are selecting the right service account when doing it. I have 2 attached to my account and almost selected the wrong one.

Kind of a follow up to this... so I'll post here instead of making a new thread.

My complimentary subscription month from buying the PS4 complete edition is winding down. If I activate a new "Online Starter Edition" PC copy of just ARR on the same service account as the PS4 copy, will that give me another free month? Since that'd save me $15 too. If so, should I wait for the PS4 month to end or would it just add another 30 days to whatever I have left?

Sidenote: I have another (cancelled) service account on this SquareEnix ID with just ARR activated on the PC that would've had a free month attached to it. Would that effect my ability to use the free month from any other service account/PC activation?

EDIT: I went ahead with it since I found a good deal for the Online Starter Edition out in the wild. It did add 30 days to my subscription (yay!), so I basically got ARR for the PC attached to my PS4 service account and a 30 day subscription for the price it would've cost to extend the subscription another month alone anyways. Maybe even a little cheaper. I'd call that a win!
