I think you're confusing things. It's not 1 vote for the entire party, but it IS only ONE MVP per party. Everyone will still get to cast their own vote, but only for the one person they thought was MvP. It wouldn't make sense if you could vote for everyone in the same run. They also consistently refer to it as "the mvp vote" singular, not votes.

no I got that, I just want to have a source for it. i'm not even denying it, just saying IF this is the case then more people need to be made aware of it - which is going to be difficult if there's no definite source. all I can find is what is written here.

it's not in-game yet, so we still have time to tell SE that we want a more 'clear' MVP system, where someone who WAS deemed 'worthy' will get a vote, and not get shafted just because only one out of 7 people realised highest dps isn't everything.

I also understood it as a "the more overall votes you get, the closer to getting a reward you are", rather than a "only one mvp per dungeon".
For example you run with a PUG, one guy votes for you (you get 1 vote like you would get one "token") and another guy in the PUG gets two votes (two more "tokens" for him), an since one member didn't vote, the other two get nothing.
That's what I had understood, and find it a bit more interesting than the "only one MVP per dungeon, the one that gets most votes on this run gets "+1 MVP token" (to keep my comparision) others get nothing (even if someone voted for them).

In any case, I find many reactions on this thread quite interesting.

In Uni, I had a course in "group behaviour". One excercise was interesting:
You tell a group of people that they can only communicate with each other by passing each other pieces of papers on which they had written one question and one answer at most. you could only give your paper to one person at a time (you could do this multiple times, but no "group communication").
The goal is to "find out everyone's date of birth as fast as possible" (nothing more was specified)

The teacher told us this exercise with western population (can't remember which country it was), a majority of groups understood this as a "I must find out first" and took it as a competiton against the other members of the group. Some even went as far as hiding information (not telling other people their own date of birth).
On a Chineese population, a majority of groups understood it as a group goal: all their papers were giving away their date of birth (and the dates of other people if they already knew it) and asking "what about you?". So that the group found the answer much faster.

It's interesting to see how everyone here understand the MVP based on the information given by Yoshi P
