That's good. One of the community rep posts made it sound like you vote after every boss in a dungeon. If it's only on the lass boss, any threats and whining will be irrelevant. All this will do is make people stay a few mins longer after a DF run to see if they get voted for MVP or not.
hmm, so you basically can't vote if the team is unable to defeat last boss? a.k.a duty failure?
except you CAN'T downvote
and really? going by 'contribution'? that would only work if you had a list of 'avoided all aoe' and 'knew when they had to sleep/root/interrupt' and 'died twice because someone else didn't interrupt' and things like that. which is veeeery unlikely.
I'm already annoyed by MVP voting based on stats in games that have that for their PVP matches, most noticably in SWTOR where I see plenty of Sages/Sorcerer getting 'blind vote' based on their healing numbers when they were standing off to the side the entire run using noble sacrifice (to those not in the know, the class has a skill that 'sacrifices' a part of their own health, so they can basically spamheal and actually heal someone... themselves. not only is this a means to get them higher healing numbers, it also is an actual threat to a win since a stealth class often uses this as a chance to just kill them when they are low in health)
and don't even let me get started on how it doesn't take into account the people who successfully guard/unlock a bomb/door/turret, stunned people at the right time, knew where to place themselves for a good pass in huttball, or put out their burst dmg right at the time for a 'smash monkey' marauder/sentinel to show up (which means the smash monkey gets 3 killing blows at once and the burster gets 'only' the dmg)
long story short: MVP voting based on stats makes people turn a blind eye on ACTUAL contribution (well-explained fights, general friendly player, actually knowing the purpose of their job and so on)

This!
I was healer in a group a couple of days ago that failed to kill the last boss in WP, basically we weren't able to DPS it down fast enough, both DPS were new to the instance. However, it wasn't for a lack of trying and the tank who had run it umpteen times never once said anything derogatory and simply started again.
To ME that is the epitome of 'MVP' behaviour, most folks can be 'good' when things go well, it's when they go tits-up that they shine. Voting should be on EXIT from the Duty, NOT when thre last boss dies: maybe with the proviso at least the first boss is killed to prevent trivial abuse.
