"You need Voice Chat to do Coil"

You don't need voice chat if you know how to do it and you learn to do it by just doing it. Cast times? Be awake and focus target. Mob priority? Signs. Allagan Rot rotation? Signs.
Silencing? Macros. What else...

Muscle memory stuff is fine without voice chat, that's on autopilot once people have got the encounter down. The issue is with mid battle adjustments, if I need a ballad a little earlier than normal and ask for it via typing rather than mumble (Sadly happens more often than I'd like, I'm a bit 'last gen') chances are I'm not going to get it. The same applies tenfold with detail stuff such as adjusting formation and whatnot.

So whilst it's not essential, it is a massive help when it comes to learning an encounter and improving one's game.

You don't "need" voice chat to do anything in this game. You do, however, need to know what you're doing. Voice chat makes it easier to find out what to do in real time if you don't already know.

Yes voice chat is required just like communication is required just like group strategy is required, Coil is not meant for the pugs that like to type.

But it's required to run with me, and many others share the same view because chances are, having 1 or more players not in TS3 or vent is not only hurting the party's chance of success but also is harming the amount of time it will take to finish. People really can be that selfish to not download a simple APP for their smartphone to save everyone a headache?

The only valid excuse for not using VOIP in coil is that you have run and completed it before and is now on FARM status.

I think the issue is what's the point? No in-game voice chat system is ever as good as vent/TS/skype/steam, so why even put the time and effort of the devs into making an in-game voice chat system?
