What Physic is saying is true, regardless of whether you want it to be or not.
Some people (be they the minority or not) enjoy an immersing, interactive economy system.
Games where you micromanage economies aren't mainstream popular like WoW or Call of Duty, but they have a strong following of people who enjoy that kind of thing - running their own business empires.
Do I think this justifies how crappy the Wards are? No, not at all. It should be refined and streamlined for efficiency, but if it can be done without sacrificing immersion that some people actually like - why should they sacrifice it?
This all hinges entirely on if it can be done. I'm sure SE is assessing that also. T
I'm not saying it can, only "if it can."
Yoshida asked we wait patiently for the battle system which would take time and be considerably more pleasant.
Did you forget?
I'm impatient, too, but it's not a mystery. He reminds us every month.
Okay. So Battle Team is working on that.
What about everyone else?
Have they pulled in any staff to speed up the process? I know, mythical man-hour and all that, but isn't this one of the reasons WHY they're using Crystal Tools? Shouldn't they be able to pull people off other projects to help get this back on track?
That's the problem of perception right now. Yes, they've said things are wrong, but they don't act like it's all that important.
This is where one of the sympathizers comes in and tells me "Of course it's important, they're not charging anything for the game so they're losing money!". Just don't bother. It's an investment in a revenue generation system - if it costs more upfront to make sure it pays off, then it's not a loss of money.
Everyone else is working on other things. It doesn't mean he can implement them.Okay. So Battle Team is working on that.

I'm just telling you what Yoshida said. Please wait.

However, current revenue streams need to be maintained. SE can afford to retool FFXIV precisely because they have teams working elsewhere to generate revenue.Okay. So Battle Team is working on that.

More programmers does not necessarily make things go faster. The managers have assigned the team they believe can get the job done and established the relative importance of their various projects. As far as your statement goes about the "they don't act like it's all that important"... I don't think that's an accurate assessment. The amount of communication we are receiving gives me the opposite impression.
I'd be ok for immersion but they are going to need a better way of doing it than running through a room full of mindless drones looking for the one who sells the item you want.
PSU had a some-what interesting system kinda similar to XIV now that I'm thinking about it. You would search for the item (or item type, I don't remember) and it would take you to a players house. There you can browse their personal shop as well as their house and see all their furniture.
I wouldn't mind something like this, especially since it would mean we get mog houses back. Plus, decorating your mog house would be THAT much better because you could actually show it off.

I remember people talking about something like this and it actually sounded kind of cool. ^_^ When they originally were saying they were working on "allowing your character to remain online to sell items even after you log out", I recall some people saying how cool it would be to set up your own shop in your mog house, set up your own stand with the armor you are selling, etc.PSU had a some-what interesting system kinda similar to XIV now that I'm thinking about it. Personally, after all of that speculation I remember, the Market Wards in their current form were a bit of a let down.![]()
In Everquest II they have a mixed system where you can either purchase something directly from the listing board with a convenience tax or travel to a players home to purchase an item for the normal cost. This is what I think we should have in XIV, only instead of home you have the wards. It is a good compromise.
