Dungeon tank bots?

I've done some Haukke runs on some alternate classes and I've grouped with some rather atrocious tanks. They use Flash once and think that's going to keep hate off of the CNJ and the SMN using Bane to spread around DoTs. I've had to bust out Titan at times just to ensure that something was picking up the other adds that the tank didn't care to deal with.

I don't think this is a case of there being bots really. Many people that play dungeons are anti-social and won't even say hello at the start. I can understand the pacing of dungeons making it difficult to chat. As far as releasing, if you're close enough to the entrance it makes sense as you don't get the weakened debuff and you can just keep going. Going straight to the keys, no big deal, maybe they've ran it enough times to know where exactly everything is. (but apparently after x amount of runs they still haven't figured out how to tank...)

Sorry to tell you, but there are are WAY better ways to make money than selling those.

No Bot (whose aim is to make money) in their right mind would run dungeons.

This would presumeably provide a relatively risk free form of leveling. Nobody can report you for botting when they don't know which server you came from.

I wouldn't call it "risk free". The task force could easily look up the reported character's name, how many servers have a character with that name/race/class combination, with the right level, who was logged in at the reported time, and then (presumably) monitor them running dungeons a few times. It's a lot of effort to go through, certainly, but there is no way to cover one's tracks.

I have noticed a few dps bots. They are usually pretty good. Lol they all use the same odd paths, they don't move until you engage, and they swap targets immediately when the tank does. If you say grats, they say thanks, no matter who you are talking too, but only once. There are a few more oddities that i cant remember off the top of my head.

I'm sure you all remember saying grats to someone for something, and the wrong person said thanks? If you do, then you were running with a bot and had no idea

I agree this is likely a power-levelling scheme.

First of all the ability to teleport into the dungeon with DF means that players dont have to travel around the world and have random spawns etc. - getting into the dungeon seems an "easy" thing to automate.

Then if they have scripts matching all the dungeons - you could 'almost' automate the entire lvling process.
Except for obviously having to unlock the dungeons if its a first-time character.

But automated lvling is, in my oppinion, the only thing that would make sense for bots to appear in the dungeons - the question then is why its always tanks.

Could be because people want tanks as they are the low-populated class currently for endgame/dungeons. Or maybe this is also happening with other classes?

I am a tank so i have not had the privilege of meeting one, but yes there are DPS, ran into three in the past 2 days, and i am sure there were more that i didn't notice. I would imagine a tank since it has insta-que makes them faster, but you have to have cahones to bot a tank. That is the most looked at role.

There was these 4 archers (no bards), at lv 31 standing near the repair dude in Advntr. Guild in Gridania, every 4 mins 30 seconds they would pop again there, then almost intantly re-queue in DF. Same gear on everyone, except hat, and this happened for a good time during the day. Not that their names help either.
Seems like now, they are all lv45 with starting gear and one or 2 random higher-level stuff.

idk man, I ran Stone Vigil just tonight before the NA/EU servers went down and our tank was a MRD in lvl 49 gear, which begs the question why the hell weren't they WAR? (needless to say they couldn't keep hate off myself, the BRD, or the BLM and quit after they wiped on the first boss)

The only time i have noticed bots are in things like Praetorium. There is this one Tank i've seen a few times at first i thought they were just leeching but they act very odd. They will just stand at the entrance for most of it but follow the party after a certain point and it's always the same point. Never responds to anything either. They had a normal name too so i think they were using a bot program to farm gear from CM and Prae. I guess in content like that it's easier to use a bot program on a Tank since you can always have another Tank to do the main anyway.

Never seen it in any other dungeons yet. A lot of Tanks who can't handle more than one target at a time but i know those are real players because they start blaming me for pulling aggro when they never even touched the other three targets and i pulled them on the first cure XD.
