Have you actually done this? Will it let you close out the quest if you don't have the Marlin in your Fishing Log?

I don't know since I double mooched my Mazlaya Marlin.

But i would assume most if not every quest with "deliver x to y" requirement can be solved
using tradable items bought from market board;
And yes, I bought raincallers from market 200 Gil each instead of sitting in Gridania waiting for a rain.
That was the first time i utilized the "free market" and i was like,
wow, how cheap.

If you have turned in a FSH quest without having the fish in your Fishing Log, then you should be able to do it here as well. I've never made the test, so I wasn't sure if it was possible or not.

1,000 gil is really cheap. I've seen some players spend hours trying to get that marlin. Most of the times, they just end up buying it.

I bought one for 2k because I didn't want to be bothered at the time of going out and catching it myself. I'll go back and do it later when I want to fill out my fishing log.
