    Titan HM : pro/con/ideas for improvement

    The purpose of this thread is to see if this encounter needs to be improved in any way, and if so what could be done.

    I will not update the OP since I'm in no way a judge of your reply's quality, but if you think you can bring some interesting ideas, that would be a good topic to do it.

    The paragraphs below are opinions based on my very limited Titan experience.


    Pro :
    • Challenging fight for DD and Healers (compared to any of the previous encounter)
    • Nice reward via Relic quest
    • Nice music, adapted to the different phases
    Con :
    • Boring fight for the tank, less work than Garuda
    • Only 1 tank needed, which is against the game's design :
      • Cannot be done via Duty finder :
        • Warriors are ignored by 90% of the players for this fight (don't get me wrong on this, it's doable with WAR mt, just not popular at all)
        • Since they get to chose their members, people tend to go crazy with gear expectations
    • Unforgiving game mechanics
      • Impossible to do if you have bad latency
      • "By heart" fight : all fights are like this in FFXIV thou
    • Crappy drop reward making the fight irrelevant for anyone without an active relic quest
    • WTS Titan 100% win : XXXk gils.
    Ideas for improvement :
    • Update the duty finder to make it a 1 tank fight
      OR
    • Add something to offtank in the encounter
    • Make something happen to the tank, like position changing, stun
    • Add something to the loot table
    • Add some delay to Titan's abilities, so people with latency can stand a chance
      OR
    • Fix latency issues
    • Lower Titan's single target damage
      OR
    • Improve warrior's damage mitigation

    I don't agree with most of your points, but I'd really like to see Titan be a bit more rewarding somehow. Right now he's just there to be killed once for attunement and the initial relic, and then only for other relics. That's kind of disappointing to me.

    I reckon they will tone the current HM Titan down a bit and make the extreme version a bit harder than HM is right now. I sure as hell hope they won't give extreme Titan an unpredicatable rotation or even less cast time because that would be devastating to people with more than 15ms latency.

    Give tanks that queue in duty finder a DPS buff just for Titan HM so the 2 tank 2 healer 4 DPS balance is maintained and the 2nd tank can contribute more than the MT lol. I'm sure I'm not the only tank that feels it's half-pointless to shout in Mor Dhona for a Titan HM PUG because the 1 tank spot is already filled up.

    More seriously, the plumes (weight of land) usually kill the DPS and healers. Perhaps lower the diameter of the plumes so people can run out of them easier.

    I would recommend to make all his moves unpredictable (no pattern at all).
    However I would increase the amount of time to react (when see landslide, add 1-2 more seconds before it actually will hurt you).

    delaying it to cater to someone with bad connections is a bad idea, because then people with no lags and are playing how the game is meant to be played is gonna have the most boring and easy fight of their life.

    Adding something else for tanks to do is a great idea though, also offtanking would be good.

    Fair points, the fight is not hard, it just needs improvements and fix due to some circumstances.

    I had to call off Titan when I needed it a few times due to lag, the day I had no lag I took my shot.
