Just some corretions. WoW mostly didnt create anything but improved things that some other MMOs tried to do.
Basic Things from WoW:
- Duty Finder / Raid Finder - first time when i saw this it was on WoW
Duty finder started in Rift.
- Skill Smashing Battlesystem
I think started with EQ1 or EQ2
- Materia System = Jewelery System [well not 100% carbon Copy since you cant put Materia into Boss Drops at the momentbut i am sure it will follow with the next Level cap]
This is from FF7 clearly
- Vanity Slots @ 2.2 [please looking forword to it]
WoW doesnt have that. Transmogrifier is a little different
- Achievment System/Rewards
This too started with Rift and WoW got it right away
Dungeon Finder is a feature from Wrath of the Lich King. Rift didn't even exist back then.
Materia works exactly like jewelry in WoW. Armor has a slot, you put stats on it... except there you would have certain colors and filling those colors, you'd get even more bonuses.
Again, Achievements is a Wrath of the Lich King feature.

Actually, no, it wasn't incompleteness that caused Yoshi to ditch that strategy, it was all the FFXI fanbois who demanded FFXIV be FFXI-2 with the same rigid job structure and nothing at all to do with the flexibility the Armory system in V1 made possible.
Basically, it was the players stuck in the tired old 'trinity' mind-set that made FFXIV actually more like FFXI than WOW, which is kind of ironic given the title of this thread.
While I have no dog in this ongoing mess. A minor quibble, WoW added the LFG tool to the game in "Burning Crusade" and it went fully cross server in "Wrath of the Lich King" in 2009... RIFT would not be released for another 2 years in. 2011
Edit: as a previous poster also pointed out, Achievements were also added in "Wrath of the Lich King", specifically in 3.0.2 yet again which was rleased in 2008 so... 3 years prior to RIFT existing, and 3 years AFTER Xbox Live made "Achievements" a "thing"

You must be only talking about the old FF14 that did have similarity's to XI but ARR doesn't.. the jobs remaining is about it really.
wtf did I just read? THIS IS AN MMO GO PLAY XBOX! FF console games are one player not there MMO's.
WHAT? Every MMO needs group content.
PS: You seriously shouldn't be playing an MMO if you don't enjoy playing with others, no one is forcing you to do the group content, just because your not into group content in a game that is supposed to be massively malty player dosn't mean the content shouldn't exsist for players who enjoy it.
Don't you think your going a bit far in saying that everything in the game should be optional to be in a team or solo, that everything in the game should be obtainable on your own... If given the option who would do the group content when you can just half ass the game and finish everything by yourself?
There is no point in having group content when everyone is just playing the game on there own even when there in groups because there constantly in and out of random groups who are all spread out across multiple servers. Even if you did meet a group you get along with too bad because there not in your server and you can't keep rolling with that same group. If this is the only style of content available people who enjoy a more in depth social atmosphere will grow very bored of ARR.
That is a pretty lame MMO your after, it's maybe a good one player game but thats about it. Actually.. ARR as a one player game is lame I would rather go play Skyrim or something more intense. MMO's just aren't supposed to be one player games, it's a stupid idea.

well correct me if i am wrong but the transmog in WoW allows you to get the style gear on your main gear? Isnt it the same if i put it over an Item or have extra Slots in my Equipment Window?
I'm sure that being kind of like wow is a large part of why this game is doing so well tbh, that and being an FF mmo.
I don't mind that its like Warcraft honestly. It has a pretty good amount of things to differentiate it from the former that it feels fresher to me.
DQ is always a grind fest, but it tends to have that more organically designed game world that I appreciate.
