See my signature lol Some people don't even move out of it >.> I had a pld once telling me "I can take the damage" and stood in all the AoEs. Just because he can, doesn't mean he should, waste of mp to cure
To be honest with you I wouldn't care if Final Fantasy 14 killed off 11 if it was actually the better game and improved upon it. In fact I would even prefer it that way.

I never said Final Fantasy 14 was bad Gideon. It's not. It's a solid game. And I believe I said that in this thread. So you are misrepresenting what I said.My point isnt what SE thought. My point is how Dale is arguing it. When its convenient he wants to state they are too different of games (and that's bad), but when it isn't convenient then SE is competing with itself and gutting FFXI (because they're the same, and that's bad). Either way, the release of FFXIV is bad.
What I did say is it shamelessly copied WoW. Which it did. And I would have preferred something more unique and Final Fantasy 11-oriented (but improved upon) rather another WoW clone.
And Final Fantasy 14 is taking people away from Final Fantasy 11. I was just stating the obvious. I don't understand why you have a problem with me saying that.
*facepalm* No way. Did you really jsut say that? No seriously. Ok, just to help you out. You do realize that the current ff14:arr is a grindtastic endgame right? What do you think you do to get DL? What do you think you do to get myth? What in the world do you think people will be doing to save up for those houses that cost 100's of millions of some severs?! Hint: It isn't picking flowers. And it sure as hell isn't going up against challenging encounters.
Really.. "you don't want to deal with that kind of grind"... thats rich. Lol. Thanks for the chuckle.![]()

haha yeah I have seen your sig, I like it and I remember that auto tune clip too, funny stuff.
At least in FFXI there were no restrictions in terms of how much you were aloud to accomplish with your time. (I know someone will bash me for this comment and say something like yea but things took a million years to achieve but oh well I guess I beat you to it.)Also some sidenotes because of Casuals and Hardcore Players:
Do you really think the Myth Points which give us acces to Ilevel 90 Equip with a 450 myths cap each week is really Casual friendly? Well nope isnt at all, if you can Play 2 Hours a day as a casual (example) you will spend 5 days a week for some Points if you dont have a Group of friends which help you to farm Points even faster.
Yoshi says that he want that Players also enjoy RL and other Games or MMOs but he is forcing you to Log in every Day indirectly with Dailys and Weekly Point resets and Weekly Lockouts.
I hate limitations.
I would be fine with XI's population moving to XIV if the reason was because FFXIV actually had similar content available for us but the fact is right now it's just destroying everything we care about in terms of MMO's and gameplay. I don't want to be pushed into the shadows because casuals have changed everything I enjoyed when I have been in love with this game since day one, long before they entered the picture.
Would a samurai change his beliefs simply because guns were created? I compare a Samurai to guns because to me it's the same difference, guns are the easy root but being a samurai requires alot of knowledge, skill, experience and fighting capabilities. We XI players are Samurai's!!!
Is it too much to ask that we have some content we can relate too?

Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one of these forums who actually enjoys the game :P
Anywho, I think the game is going in the right direction- it'll only get ebtter and more diverse.
The only thing that really needs to change, is crafting, and things that would benefit the economy more.
Potions and Food, need to be a thing, same with other consumables.
You can make i90 Crafted Gear (or even i85) but make it weaker than Allagan or Myth unless it's overmelded & give it set bonuses.
Things like open world content, with how they handled the Christmas FATE, and treasure maps, I'm hopeful they'll expand upon those ideas: FATEs with neat mechanics, and Treasure Maps eventually becoming much more rare and challenging.
Maybe Yoshi should have taken inspiration from WoW when it was in it's glory days. And not how it is now?
I.e Being less of a lobby game.
EDIT: Guess I could post even though I have no subscription currently.
While I've never played FFXI, I'd like to say that this thread was so much better back in my day.

"Alot" is not a word. Allot is but it's unlikely to be what you want, try "A lot".
Um....what exactly are you grinding?*facepalm* No way. Raids? Well, I mean, I guess you could grind Crystal Tower if you wanted to, but the gear is sub-par to Coils, and once you get your piece of gear each week, you can't get more. So I guess you could grind CT up to the point that you get your piece of gear. Um, Coils? Coil has a lockout, and only five bosses. How do you grind on five bosses, and how do you grind when you can only face each boss once a week?
Dungeons? Well, okay, you CAN grind dungeons if you want to. I don't know why you would desire to do so, though. Once you get your initial Darklight/crafted gear, there's no use for tomes. At this point, there isn't even a point to grinding for the crafted gear - you can just buy the tomestone items for <50k. And then you just start...accumulating...tomestones without really trying.
I'm capped on Myth by Wednesdays and I don't even try. Between doing short (honestly, Haukke HM is even shorter than the original, and way shorter than WP) HMs, Treasure Maps, Coil, and 1-2 runs of CT (more if I'm helping out friends, because drunken CT runs are honestly amusing as all hell), I wake up Wednesday mornings going, "ummm...I have all this myth...where did this come from?"
I have 6 daily quests max, compared to WoW's 25+ (and yeah, I did every single daily I had for reputations I needed at the start of MoP, and it was horrrrrible). They all give me Tomestones, and some shards, and take under 10 mins to complete.
You can actually pick flowers to save up for a house! And smash rocks, too. People buy that stuff. I do it all the time. I don't know that I would call what I do "grinding" unless I spend an extended amount of time on it. I usually do things a little bit each day.
I dunno. I'm not grinding. This doesn't feel grindy at all, especially compared with other games I've played that felt very grindy. I asked my friend in a much more hardcore guild (they are way more obsessed with raiding than I am at the moment, and were all level 50 like, days after the game dropped) if the game was grindy, and he said that it's not compared to most older MMOs. He also told me not to argue with you because of a word I'm not allowed to repeat.

I like most of what you said (As a Culinarian I love making Food more worthwhile!), but with one quibble: I like that treasure maps are common, because they are a really enjoyable thing to do with a group of friends. My friends and I have tons of fun doing treasure maps throughout the week. That said, I'd like for there to be much more rare treasure maps that you can only occasionally find by chance that have cooler stuff in them. That would be pretty great, too.Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one of these forums who actually enjoys the game :P

everyone says this. but when a "different" mmo comes out, they won't play it.Well, I'd love an XI-2 :P But that's just me.
But really, I'd love for anything different in a mmo rather than the same junk we're thrown at with every single mmo made in the last 8 years. Because you know, those hundreds of mmos really stood out and lasted and none of them died off or went F2P >.>
