Actually, no, it wasn't incompleteness that caused Yoshi to ditch that strategy, it was all the FFXI fanbois who demanded FFXIV be FFXI-2 with the same rigid job structure and nothing at all to do with the flexibility the Armory system in V1 made possible.

Basically, it was the players stuck in the tired old 'trinity' mind-set that made FFXIV actually more like FFXI than WOW, which is kind of ironic given the title of this thread.

You must be only talking about the old FF14 that did have similarity's to XI but ARR doesn't.. the jobs remaining is about it really.

WHAT? Every MMO needs group content.

PS: You seriously shouldn't be playing an MMO if you don't enjoy playing with others, no one is forcing you to do the group content, just because your not into group content in a game that is supposed to be massively malty player dosn't mean the content shouldn't exsist for players who enjoy it.

Don't you think your going a bit far in saying that everything in the game should be optional to be in a team or solo, that everything in the game should be obtainable on your own... If given the option who would do the group content when you can just half ass the game and finish everything by yourself?

There is no point in having group content when everyone is just playing the game on there own even when there in groups because there constantly in and out of random groups who are all spread out across multiple servers. Even if you did meet a group you get along with too bad because there not in your server and you can't keep rolling with that same group. If this is the only style of content available people who enjoy a more in depth social atmosphere will grow very bored of ARR.

That is a pretty lame MMO your after, it's maybe a good one player game but thats about it. Actually.. ARR as a one player game is lame I would rather go play Skyrim or something more intense. MMO's just aren't supposed to be one player games, it's a stupid idea.
