I'm almost positive that this is a troll post.

As I said some time ago, the ONLY reason FFXI's soundtrack might "beat" this one is due to its nostalgia factor. All that nostalgia is clouding your ears. FFXI had a few great songs, but overall the soundtrack was extremely underwhelming, vastly recycled, and just plain mediocre. It was by far out of every FF I've played the absolutely most mediocre soundtrack I've heard in my life.

I love quite a few of the songs in this game and so far I am tremendously pleased with this soundtrack more than FFXI. Not as much as some of the other FFs, but far more than FFXI.

Edit: And for those that think this is some fantasy medieval-esque world where everything should be orchestrated take off your blinders. Last I checked giant city-sized mechnical dreadnoughts, star wars vehicles, and mako reactor rip-offs are not part of that element. The Thanalan battle music is one of my favourite tracks in the game, and that area itself has a factory in the north.

As much as I disagree with OP's opnion, I doubt it's a troll post. Music is pretty subjective and we could go on forever trying to find a OST everyone will agree it's "good".

Nothing is wrong with La Noscea's battle music. Think back to FFVI's battle music.

    You go from this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq8TV1PqZvw

    to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syeud...eature=related

Its supposed to get you hyped up. For more examples of modern Uematsu, go check out Lost Odyssey's tracks. There is a huge mix of styles:

    Fire above the battle

    Battle Conditions

    Battle a great evil

    Ipsilon Mountain range

    Tosca Village

These tracks and Lost Odyssey as a whole are pretty much what you'd see in Final Fantasy if Uematsu and Sakaguchi were still staples of the series. So it only makes sense that XIV has a variety of styles.

I like the music in this game for the most part, it would be nice to have some different versions or new tracks for different zones,

Thanalan for example has 5 zones ? different music for each one would be nice.

I had a friend that just finished his degree in composing. Who hasn't played a final fantasy before, doesn't know too much about them in general~ , walk into my room while I was playing and ask me what it was because the songs sounded so good. Hearing someone complain about it after having someone who doesn't have a nobuo-boner immediately go to listen to it all night is kind of funny to me.

This is the most trollish post I've seen in the entire thread. It basically boils down to "My opinion > your opinion and you're wrong for thinking otherwise".

I do find a lot of the soundtrack far too short and monotonous. The least they could do is LENGTHEN some of the songs and add more variety, like say...different music for fishing than mining or botany...not one generic gathering music... And dear lord, more than one generic crafting song. I can't stand to hear the crafting song anymore.

I actually like the title track... But I agree that the WotG soundtrack was vastly superior to FFXIV's soundtrack.

No, I bought WotG but never got the chance to really play through what it implemented. I listened to its music via youtube and liked them enough to download them. Most of them I never heard in-game so they provoke no nostalgia in me. But I have very often muted XIV's music and played WotG music on my media player whilst playing FFXIV.

So if "nostalgia" only makes XI's music good, how on earth is this song nostalgic? Especially since even story wise you weren't even born
