    I see a bunch of people getting the terminology jumbled up.
    xiv classes are over arching skill sets based on a weapon. A job will be a defined skill set with in a host class.

    With that being said. We will not be seeing any new classes until they have the battle and job systems sorted, this has been the response given on the issue already. At the earliest i would think sometime around fall.

    I can't wait for new weapon classes! Nothing has been posted yet and I really hope the devs will eventually make a post regarding this. I have a feeling they won't be around until after these coming job/dungeon updates, but what I think we need the most at the moment in no particular order is:

    -War Scythe class
    -GKT and katana class (eventually learning a dual wield trait)
    -pistol and rifle class
    -single axe class (might have some beastmaster-esque abilities)
    -Great sword class
    -instrument class (lacking class that focuses on buffs currently imo, though the pistol rifle class could also have buffs)

    If those weapon classes are added (which I think they should have been since launch), then I think with the job system that's coming, we could be looking at some amazing combinations!

    I think.. at first implement of Job System we should have:

    - Knight/Warrior (Sword/Axe)

    - Dragooner (Spear)

    - Monk (Knuckle)

    - Hunter (Bow)

    - White Mage (Staff/Rod)

    - Black Mager (Staff/Rod)


    I don't expect they'll add 10~15 jobs at the first release

    How would dragoneer be different from lancer? Or Hunter from Archer? Should be a thief/rogue class IMO, like the original jobs from FF1 and FFXI.
