I've been playing MMOs for 13 years now, healing for 10 of them, and I have NEVER EVER charged for a raise. so please, speak for yourself.I have nameplates turned off for anyone not in my party, so I don't usually notice bodies on the ground. They do blend in, most of the time. Also, just because someone plays a healing class doesn't mean they are obligated to raise complete strangers who were dumb enough not to bind where they were leveling. It's nice if they do, but in older games we used to charge for that.
And yeah, had the person return while I was waiting for cooldowns to expire just enough times that I don't bother switching classes anymore. But if I notice bodies (big if, with names turned off) while I'm on WHM/SCH/SMN I do generally raise them.![]()
If I happen to KO I will stay until I am positive there is no one in the area (to make 99.9999% sure I am not hitting HP while someone is readying a Raise).
On the other hand, if I see a body, and I'm not in a mad rush (which is extremely rare/ex) I will Raise you even if it means switching jobs for a minute. Not because I feel obligated, but it's just in my nature to help wherever I can.
Probably the reason why I feel comfortable in a healing class/support role...I did it for 9 years on XI.![]()

I'll raise whoever I see, unless they're shouting for it, then I ignore them. If they /say or /yell, then ill actually go find them.
This is the likely scenario...
The healer runs through the fields being all cheery and full of life, suddenly they stumble upon a corpse...
Healer: Oh dear...a dead person, what should I do? Papa E-Sumi-Yan taught me a spell that can bring back the dead...but...but...I'm too scared!!!
The healer runs off crying...
Healer: I'm sorry dead-person-san!!!
And the healer was never heard from again...
The end...
If someone kindly asks for a rez then I'll help them, I wont rez random people I find dead on my travels they could be bots or afk.
Yesterday I was doing a Gladiator story quest, I could hear some fighting behind me I turned around as saw another gladiator, dead. Who instantly asked for a rez I added raise to my hotbar, rezed him. He then jumped in front of me actived the quest item spawned 3 mobs and almost died again, but I saved him. What annoyed me was.. He didn't even hang around to see if I needed any help (considering he struggled and after saving him twice)
I guess at least, he said thanks :P
*Jump off Chocobo, swap in Raise* 'Hold on man, 30 second cooldown when swapping skills. Okay!' *cast raise on the person, Raise Buff expires. Get back on Chocobo and ride away*Quite depression. Seen this happened a few time. Especially around City States and other mid-high level area. I know they're probably busy but it doesn't hurt to "Raise" someone who fainted on the road. Worst experience I had was leveling a second class. Got owned while 3-4 high level healer just ran past my newly dead body. Seconds later a Lancer shows up, switches to WHM, and raise me. I thank him afterwards for the kind act.
Like Noahlimits says right beneath this post, that's not how Altruism works. If you're doing it for the adulation, then you're doing it wrong. I could have 100 people tell me to go fuck myself after rezzing them and I'd still, without hesitation, raise the 101st.I used to go out of my way to raise people but I got sick of people releasing while I'm casting Resurrection or not even bothering with a simple "thank you." I still raise people if I'm not busy but if I'm going somewhere I usually don't bother stopping to help anymore.

If i'm in the correct class and come across someone who is dead, i'll generally throw em a raise and then continue on my way. I personally just release when I die though. Few hundred gil isn't a huge deal.
It figures you are on Hyperion.....my server again. Geez do we have ANY nice people?I have nameplates turned off for anyone not in my party, so I don't usually notice bodies on the ground.
