I'm quoting you because I saw you say it, but I hear this sentiment a lot. What is there to hate about a 20% reduction to damage for 20 seconds? How does this qualify as one of the worst abilities in the game?
Its not 20% reduction to damage... more like 5%.

Because it isnt a 20% damage reduction, it is a 20% defense boost. Not magic defense, just defense. I believe people have done the math that it is about a 5% damage reduction from PHYSICAL damage only.

All Warrior "needed" was to overcome the 10% damage taken diffirence it used to have.
Getting a permanent 20% more HP cured and being able to use Wrath every 12,5 seconds on Inner Beast for a 6 second -20% reduction (essentially 10% all the time) would have done this already.
Increased Enmity on everything on top of that, Invincible, another -30% damage taken ability, essentially a MASSIVE damage increase from being allowed to spend wrath while also circumventing the damage output reduction with Enchainment, less recast times, less TP use, Longer Duration buffs and essentially godmode WERE NOT NEEDED OR DESIRED.

a darklight warrior in 2.1 will be able to tank caduceus at 5+ stacks now, a darklight warrior in 2.1 will be able to tank double dreads in turn 4 now
i get that it's a massive buff, but that is what is required to bring them in-line with 2.0 paladins, i'm happy i'll be able to swap back to warrior
Just like with storms eye, PLD will benefit just as much from the new storms path. I think these changes wont lead to people abandoning PLD, but rather making the PLD/WAR super-tank-duo the go-to instead of everyone just bringing another PLD. PLD is still incredibly strong in terms of damage reduction, remember that standing there without any buffs other than defiance/shield oath PLD is already mitigating more incoming damage than WAR with the flat damage reduction and blocking. Some skills are a bit stronger than their counterparts (I am happy to see a semi-return to form of old-vengeance, though I would not be surprised to see a duration reduction before it is enacted), and some are weaker (holmgang will be great for stopping ONE hit, but is much weaker against sustained damage than hallowed ground).
I would have liked to see Inner Beast as a heal+shield rather than a form of flat mitigation, as I feel that better fits the WAR theme, even if %reduction is stronger.
Awful lot of Paladins QQing in this thread about how they won't necessarily be the go-to tank for everything in the game any more
