You know...if you break down your subscription, those 4 hours total out to like 8 cents?
$14.95 for 30 days = ~50 cents/day = ~2 cents/hr.
So you are complaining about losing 8 cents of playtime in the long run. So before you complain SE is stealing your money by having maintenance, REALLY think about how much of your money you spend when you are able to play the game uninterrupted. In reality, they should charge more. This is cheap ass entertainment. A whole months worth of access to a video game 24/7 with the occasional maintenance vs a 90-150 minute movie that can cost you $7 just to get in the door. Not including any additional tickets or refreshments.
You don't understand, I'm not losing "4 hours a day" I'm losing an entire day because I get home and the servers are down... 6pm to 10pm (11 sometimes)You know...if you break down your subscription, those 4 hours total out to like 8 cents?

But whatever... deal with it right?
I would agree that for "fairness" they could try to rotate the maintenance schedule each time so that the same zones are not afflicted every time. But not sure if that is feasible.
But I am in Japan (1hour less than you) and I don't think the maintenance schedule are a problem....
They inform ahead so you can plan something else for your evening...

Rotating it would be perfect, and I bet all these people disagreeing with me will finally understand why I'm so upset about this.
Bashing the same region over and over and losing 5-10+ days a month of game time is insanely frustrating.
This month alone has seen 13 maintenance completely cut into oceanic prime time straight after work.

You're not understanding my point. You weren't going to play any other time anyway right? Due to a job, homework, family, etc. I have about 5-6 hours a night of time between getting home from work and when I need to go to sleep to wake up the next day. In that time, I may have family obligations or stuff that needs to be dealt with before I start my game time. And I can't play any other time because of work, etc...so what's really changed? Nothing.
No matter how you look at it, it's not like you can miraculously shift those 4 hours to a different part of your day that you weren't able to play to begin with. So your playtime stays the same maintenance or not. And out of that ENTIRE month. You complain about 4 hour which accumulates to about 8 cents of your money. I guarantee you, you play enough during the entire month to make those 4 hours of maintenance unworthy of even being noted.
But I digress. Not everyone holds their playtime in the same regard as the other. I find my average of 2-3 hours a night worth it, even with the maintenance in between. You apparently do not, and there is nothing wrong with that. I just don't agree with your view on the matter.
Ya know, when you are trying to argue to have something done in your favor, or to get people to sympathize with your cause; here is an example of something you don't do.
Just so you know, you are saying the same things all those 'entitled Americans' said. So I guess that makes you an 'entitled [insert nationality here],' or are you some how clear from being called 'entitled' since you aren't North American?
They could just rotated the time? Mostly maintance last for 3-4 hrs?
rotate them so the same people don't get bashed every time, I have lost 13 days game time this month alone... if they make them once a week or once a month (like FFXI) then obviously I wouldn't have a problem with it.. but coming home 2-3 days a week not being able to play isn't something I should be happy about.
great game
great communities
terrible maintenance schedule.
You do realize these are mostly emergency maintenances? I'm pretty sure no one was sitting around, making up the normal maintenance schedule, and said "3 times a week is good".
They find out there's a problem, find out the time period the least amount of people are playing, and schedule it then so they can fix it as soon as possible. They're not going to find a problem, then wait until regular maintenance to fix it.
This is a brand new game, so it has a lot of things that may go wrong until it smooths out enough that the only maintenance we have to look forward to is the scheduled weekly/monthly/whatever they go with. When they go wrong, sometimes it's best to fix them as soon as possible.
By the way, although I'm in North America, my sleep/work times means that when maintenance happens, it's almost always an hour or less after I wake up and eat and would like to play, so it's not like I don't understand. I just see outside my own personal bubble.
God please help us
sinful children of Ivalice.
