I would love a Keyboard only for PC/
As much as I set it up, I'm finding myself still using mouse and keyboard.

Out of all games I've played I think FFXI has the best keyboard control. Why they fell off on this I don't get it.

It's sort of an illusion that you experienced with FFXI. The limitation on movement is the source of that illusion. The reason XI felt like it has the best keyboard control is because the mouse function wasn't considered into the restrictive design, thus it was horrible to use for most people. That's why the way the games controls are restrictive works well with just the keyboard.

It had some things going on that helped that fact though, like going into first-person and using the arrow keys to look around, which was quick and responsive. But overall, it was just an illusion that it was a "perfect" design for keyboard-only play. When you incorporate certain functions, particularly jumping, the mouse control is SIGNIFICANT to better response. Far from mandatory, but it allows for potentially better play (quick turning mid-jump to attack, without hindering kiting speed).

Agreed with this. I've been trying to find a way to set the keyboard up to feel like XI, but so far haven't had a comfortable keyboard setup that keeps me from using them mouse. Would really like the option to have XI keyboard controls in XIV

I'm confused as to what exactly can't be solved with adjusting keybinds. What features of XI are missing, exactly? I'm not being facetious, I really want to know if there is something in the default XI controls that cannot be keybound in this game, or if people are just too lazy to look up the XI control scheme and copy it themselves and would rather just bug SE for a preset.

It seems like an awesome idea, but I'm still looking for some support of the keyboard only functionality. I may consider it, but I don't want to have to buy an extra peripheral for something that was included in 1.0.

Several people in this thread have said they are able to play with keyboard only already, what is this "support" that is lacking?
