Keyboard Only

WASD movement and Arrow keys for camera isn't keyboard only? o.o

Also for those saying they wont be able to move fast enough with just the keyboard, all that would need to be done is to increase the camera sensitivity threshold. lol

I mean I'd never use just the keyboard but that's me.

I'm still not clear what's going on in this thread.... for all intents and purposes *I* am right now keyboard only, and have no problems:
I can turn, I can run, I can target, I can select my party mates or an enemy. I can use all my skills. My fingers never leave the keyboard.

Can someone here say exactly what they are trying to do that they can not accomplish with keyboard-only?

So far I know there are some challenges (but not impossibilities) with the following action types:
1) Placing -- Hard to place a fairy/AOE-ground-target skill with keyboard only. However once I place it with mouse, usually next time it appears in same spot. This is a room for improvement, but hardly a giant issue.
2) Targeting a single mob in a crowd -- True, using tab amongst 10 things is slower than mouse, but it does work, and often times (in my experience up to and including titan) there is never really any huge concern here. On the flip side, using tab is sometimes faster than mouse if they are all crowded on top of each other ^^;

So, I still do not see what people are concerned about.... and *I* am a keyboard-only user, right here, right now...

Only time i have to use mouse in this game is to aim a move like flaming arrow.

As far as I'm aware, both keyboard and gamepad input allow you to aim these abilities by looking with the camera (which is still much eaiser to do with a mouse, I might add).

Moving the camera causes the point the mouse is pointing at to change so in a way you are aiming it but its easier to aim with the mouse. But camera controls feel the same with the arrow keys or the mouse so it comes down to personal preference.

okay um, you are all arguing PC controls, if you read the OP they asked for Keyboard controls on the PS3, which from everything I can find are clearly missing. if they were too give the PS3 the same Keyboard/Mouse controls the PC has it would give the OP exactly what they want since everything as far as I know can be controlled without the mouse.(though controlling the camera with the keyboard feels a bit lacking to me)

I guess I misread the op. Yoshi said in an interview that the ps3 wont be getting full keyboard mouse controls due to memory limits on the ps3. The ps4 will have them tho.

wow they must be pushing the memory of the PS3 if they think they need to do this. very disappointing because while the controller controls are really good by leaving out the keyboard mouse controls they essentially cripple that version of the game(yes I know they lowered the framerate but I dont see that as actual crippling)

While I referenced, the PS3, I was merely stating the current improvements in the game. I am looking for PC based keyboard only controls similar if not the same to 1.0. Currently the biggest hindrance for this is the clickable UI and the awkward bindings available compared to FFXI/1.0 style.

FFXI didn't have the ability to jump either. And the game mechanics didn't really require you to be moving all the time constantly like this game's fight mechanics.

KB + Mouse is the most effecient way to play, hands down. I can understand if you are physically disabled why you would want to do this, but you could opt for a different approach all together. Get a replacement for both, like this

It seems like an awesome idea, but I'm still looking for some support of the keyboard only functionality. I may consider it, but I don't want to have to buy an extra peripheral for something that was included in 1.0.
