Hello all doubly uninformed people! They are speaking about focus targets (Shift + F), and not auto lock. On the PS3, there is no focus target because they wanted to screw you over like that. On the PC, if you're using a controller, make a macro that has /focustarget in it. If you need to target it, use /target <f>. I for one have /focustarget in my sleep/bind macros. It's not a regularly accessed button so you can put it on one of those 5 cross hot bars that you probably don't use.

    On topic :

Would be interesting if Sony made drivers to where the touchpad could be of some use, even if just binding it to something that could translate as a keypress.

Configuration files were meant to be edited by the player. If not by the game then manually. Square Enix has no problem with this and people need to not fearmonger over it.

Have you used the gamepad UI for FFXIV? It's incredibly efficient as a DD, on par with keyboard as a tank, and manageable as a healer. I personally prefer keyboard and mouse for healer as you change target a lot on a moments notice, but having all your actions easily reachable as a DD with the precision movement of a gamepad is really nice.

As a Drg, I wouldn't want to do the 27 action long rotation while weaving in buffs and jumps with a keyboard. The 9 base actions is already a pretty far distance for your hand to travel in the middle of dodging things.

Honestly, on the Titan HM fight a controller is soooooo much better to use for camera control, dodging, skill rotations...SE outdid themselves with the controller UI, and there's more they can do and are doing to improve it further!

I went and got a DS4 controller tonight, and I can confirm this does work. One thing to remember is to have the controller plugged in and active, then start up FFXIV (so it picks up that a new controller is installed), then log out and exit before editing the cfg file.

I think it's pretty darn good. Much more comfortable and more responsive than the 360 controller.

For those who have the PS4 controller, I currently use both PS3 and 360 controllers, and prefer the PS3 controller, because it doesnt require as much force, to press/activate a button.

(But this is only noticeable when u have carpal tunnel, and every single press of a button is ten times more noticeable because of the extra pain inflicted when u press down harder on a 360 controller.)

Most people (including myself originally) wont be able to tell, but if anyone here can, please let me know. (Same with the thumb sticks, as 360 sticks are harder to move, which I like for FPSs, but not anything else)

Tell me it doesn't need MotionJoy for it to work, I love PS3 Controller but have to go with the XBox 360 because MotionJoy is so buggy and sometime analog completely stop working.

I find the PS4 controller requires even less force than the PS3 controller. I'm liking it a lot so far. I really hope Sony develops proper drivers for it in Windows, because it would be so nice to use the touchpad for clicking on my standard hotbars, which I use for things like mounts, food, gear swaps and limit break.

It doesn't need MotionInJoy for it to work. It's plug and play, though you have to edit the ffxiv.cfg file as outlined in the OP otherwise the button assignments get mixed up.

I haven't been able to get it the wireless to work, though. Windows detects it, but it can't connect to it. I think it's because when you push the PS button, the controller only stays on and discoverable for a couple seconds, and that isn't enough time for Windows to establish a connection.

    Sweet. I'll try that tonight.

Need to hold down the PS and Share buttons until it starts flashing then it should be found by your Bluetooth adapter. Havent tried it myself (waiting on bluetooth adapter) but I read about it somewhere. Itll show up as "Wireless Controller" just like when its wired.

Oh and I believe you need a compatible Bluetooth adapter as well, 2.1+EDR and above should work. Doesnt work on PS3 because PS3 used v1.2 or something.
