In WoW, what drives most people to raid is to get their class tier set.
    Here, maybe an Allagan or two will be BiS... but why would I care about it, when Relic armor is so much cooler, easier to get and almost as good?

    Then we have DL gear... without any droppable equivalent, crafted being much harder to get, and way too expensive to make it worthwhile. So you have people running the weakest instance in the game (WP, previously CM) and getting the best gear. There's no incentive to go out and drop your stuff. Many of the AK things I got isn't because I farmed it - it's because everyone was already in DL and had no need for it, and passed.

    Next you have Titan who forces you to have DL or higher. So, everything you get in AK and WP is completely worthless, as you can farm CM in your AF and skip all that.

    The progression in this game is completely messed up. Dropped items should be more desirable than bought ones, always. No wonder people who want progression are bored - Yoshi-P is effectively removing every single "inconvenience" that comes with MMORPGs.

    Very well said, this sums up the major flaw this game has. I personally go for crafted gear over darklight, so I'm not one of those Darklight Clones.

    Primal weapons are 100% useless. You get Garuda's weapon to be geared enough to fight Titan, and then you have your Relic. I got my relic in a day and a half after hitting 50. Now I have no need for any Primal weapon except for looks, let alone the 2 star crafted weapons. There just isn't proper progression in this game.

    I really wanted to get the Vanya Trousers for my Dragon Knight, but at the cost of 3350 tomes I decided to go other routes, until I am utterly bored out of my mind, at the tome cap, spend them all and am almost half way filled with the tome cap once more. (Not likely)

    Myth craps prevent people from gearing up too fast, so I don't see why you guys are making a big deal out of this. Five months is a really long time to work on the same armor set, and chances are, 2.1 and 2.2 will make myth gear not BiS.

    Exactly! It's pointless to get myth gear if they'll be obsolete in the future patches before you can even get a chance to complete it.

    Basing from another poster here, it takes like 5 months to complete Myth gears, Official launch started in Aug 27, meaning by December (which most likely 2.1 will come) you still haven't finished your myth gears and yet a new and possibly better gears are coming already which makes your time getting Myth gears useless.

    300 cap / week isn't justifiable considering the price of the Myth gears.

    Part of the problem, if I may be so bold, is that there is too linear of a progression in equipment. For example, with weapons:

    Ifrit -> Garuda -> Titan -> Relic -> Relic +1

    Once you have the more 'advanced' version of a weapon there is no need to use a previous version. If you have Titan, no need to use Ifrit or Garuda. If you have Relic, you can ignore the rest. This is an extreme simplification of a weapons system: A > B > C > D, and so on. This is a significant change from 1.0, where there was at least situational needs. For example, in 1.0:

    Some weapons (Flame Cudgel) could be very useful in dungeons with sanction -- very powerful.
    Some weapons with High Accuracy needed for Garuda, but not so much for Ifrit or other fights.
    Some weapons with a balance needed in fights where you know you will die (and do not want to use sanction scrolls a lot).

    You had to at least mix and match a few characteristics (accuracy, power, sanction, weapon sets, etc.) Now. Not at all. And it is the same with other equipment pieces. I am looking at tomes for Darklight but realize I could just save the myth tomes and buy even better equipment, and use the philosophy tomes to buy peacock ore to sell for gil.

    The key to equipment diversity is the need for equipment diversity, in other words, each piece of equipment can not be universally better than the previous piece of equipment. And that is so far lacking here. Perhaps it will change in the future.
