Don´t be a snowflake, boys, grow your thick skin.

Or better, just be good, in terms of acceptable.

I am a very calm guy, so I generally keep my opinion for me, but as i was reading this subject, i did a relic run in dzemael, and the tank drove me nearly nuts, because it was clear, he only did his Tank for quick invites [0], but was serious enough to buy a full stack of Wootz HQ for his left side...

He failed so much, the healer decided to fake-dc after the first trash after first boss ^^

basically, just be nice to each other, after all, it´s just a game, don´t flush down your mood because of such things ^^

[0] tbh, my first run to 50 PLD was for exact that reason, but I must say, I never encountered any insults, usually leave the duty with 2-3 Commendations, so some guys must have really bad karma, putting together the perfect matching people in the duties ^^

The "I never got robbed so you getting robbed is your own fault" attitude is not constructive.

Forgivable: Tank losing hate to high DPS.

Forgivable: Tank making mistakes. I make mistakes. We all make mistakes.

Forgivable: Tank having a bad day and lashes out because of it.

Unforgivable: Tank pulling a boss, knowing their Twelvedamned teammates are not ready/present at the scene, causing confusion or lockout.

Sorry, but THAT I will hold against someone. It's not hard to make sure everybody's present and ready.

EDIT: There are exceptions to the last one, of course. Maybe someone's been AFK for a while and people want to move forward. In fact, pulling a boss early is something I'll shun just about anybody for, unless it was a legitimate mistake.

Even if necroed, its already on the front page and thankfully got a good read because of it.

True, it was a pretty good read. Looked at the OP's started threads history though... shame he hasn't done more than 3 total.

Frankly I don't think this is something that can't be necro'ed because it's not talking about something that's no longer true. People get into the habit of thinking old threads should never be revived, resulting sometimes in very good comments getting buried away in older threads that very well apply to the current time.

    Necroing is bad when:
    • You answer a question that was asked a long time ago such that the original poster most likely don't need the answer anymore.
    • You comment on something that is no longer applicable, such as necroing a thread that talks about wishes for housing content before housing was released, and disagreeing with some of the wishes even though they've actually been implemented. The proper way is to use a new thread to specifically talk about the current situation and why you disagree.
    • You necro a thread just to make fun of the comments or the original poster. This is bad. You should be ashamed of yourself.
    Necroing is fine when:
    • Hey we talked about this two years ago and now I'm seeing the same phenomena. Let's look back to this thread.
    • You ask the same question that was asked a long time ago and remained unanswered. Note that a week is not a long time, that would be called bumping and that is bad. For example, "hey devs you agreed to add this in 2013, it's 2015 now, what's up with this?"
    • The thread topic is something that is on-going, such as server chat thread in the communities sub-forums. Or the screenshot thread that's gone missing for 6 months. These are fine. In fact, you should necro these thread instead of creating new threads.

Well, on the topic, personally I think Tanking requires either a certain sense or responsability, or a level of selfsteem, or simply a trendiness for recklessness.

As someone who would swing more for the first, I could say I definitely will never main Tank... its too stressful :/

My respect for all those who are willing to take on such jobs.

It depends on the situation. In low level content usually it's not worth the effort to do AoE because either the tank+healer pair cannot sustain a pull large enough to make the AoE worth it, or the DPS simply don't have that firepower due to level, gear, skill getting synced away, etc. But with end-game gear usually it's not worth the time to do single-target kills.

Bottom line, everyone should try to accommodate others. And if a tank is uncomfortable pulling more, there are better ways to encourage the tank to push his limits than insults and rude behavior. Part of being DPS is adapting your rotations and skill usage to meet your tank's strengths. It goes both ways.

A good Tank/Healer/DPS knows more than one way to tank/heal/dps.
A bad Tank/Healer/DPS demands everyone else to accommodate.
