I didn't mean you, I meant in general complaints about mmos are presented as fact, such as "this game will FAIL without pvp!", when in reality it's that persons opinion or perspective. I was pointing that out via the fact that you got a lot more time out of a game that is infamous for having zero endgame, and yet you're on this game saying you're already bored 10 months earlier than you were with GW2. It just shows how there is no concrete way for an mmo developer to make people want to play a game for long periods of time, short of massive time sinks and gated content, which are utterly and completely taboo in the mmo world now.
It had HNM and BCNM as endgame content. So, FFXI (launch in japan) had end game content without the xilart expansion? Nope not really.
You know, funnily enough I forgot about FF XI when I was talking about WoW and EQ. The great thing is that my point still stands, as FF XI lasted the test of time by being a huge bitch of a grind with massive timesinks. This kept people in check while new content was developed. If a new mmo were to come out that had massive time sinks, grind, gated content, and the whole nine yards ala vanilla WoW, EQ, and FF XI, it would be decried as archaic and a "korean grinder" and would likely be abandoned. Developers know this, so they make games that are analogous in those regards to WOTLK era WoW, knowing that the new mmo crowd is averse to those things. As a result, people cut through the content like a hot knife through butter and then cry there is no endgame at launch or shortly after. Developers cannot win nowadays. The armchair development experts go on singing their sad tune about how it's surely possible to make an mmo that runs well, is balanced and also has a truckload of endgame content to satiate the rabid no lifers and heavy gamers, all without too much grind, or time sinks/gated content, etc. These people are delusional and should be ignored.

One of the worst arguments people put out in topics like these is "FFXI and WoW"
and any other decade old. Don't compare those two, ever. Again, it's over a decade year old games.
it's 2013, things gotta change around these parts. Just because every other MMO doesn't have this or that,
doesn't mean this MMO needs be just the same. XIV came out the box, again, and well I'm assuming it is much
better than 1.0 lmao but y'know...they really didn't put too much. I feel bad for Legacy players.
Level 1 class and they are done till Dec. [Assuming that 2.1 is Dec like we've heard.]
More end game will come because this is a MMO. MMO's get more content with updates. Expecting a game built up from the ground up and being re-released to have content compared to a MMO that has been out for 10 years is expecting far too much.
I'm just saying...
Also why do people continue to lump old FFXIV with ARR as if the content from old FFXIV contributed a ton to ARR? I've played both games. The devs completely removed most of the content from old FFXIV. Everything in ARR outside of the primal fights is 100% new when it comes to content. Areas you see in ARR are nothing like the old areas in FFXIV. The game is 95% new while 5% being old while using half of the same graphics while the other half of the graphics being completely new. Why do you guys still call this a 4-5 year old game?

Thanks OP this board needs more doom topics, surely your wall of text will save things. :3
I like to imagine OP as an old woman who sits on a park bench, she tosses down bread crumbs and the seagulls all swoop down screaming "MineMineMine" (gulls being those who respond.
In all seriousness topics like these would fall off the first page if people would stop trying to shut down the op.

I totally agree with you. The 2.1 stuff seems like it was suppose to be launch stuff but just got held back because of issues or not enough testing. I don't care so much about endgame content, just content in general. What is there to do in FFXIV besides leve something up? I just want to play and enjoy it, not do the same thing with anything you do in the game. All people say is level a craft or another class/job. I want to enjoy something on here that isn't leveling. Something just fun to do would be great other than exp grind.This. I played Tera for half a year to 9 months on and off at launch. Took me quite a while until I got bored with the game. I loved the fact it had vanity features since launch, and other basic features/content that this game doesn't have yet. Now, I'm rather bored with this game and I want to like it, I honestly do. I fear 2.1 just won't be enough, even more considering a great deal of 2.1 should have been at launch.
I'm not too sure what else people expect really. It's a game, they cannot have infinite content, especially when it's just come out. It also makes me laugh how before Coil was beaten people complained saying "Twintania is unkillable!" saying it was made intentionally impossible. Now it's been proven to be beatable, there's nothing to do apparently.
*sigh*
At the end of the day if you aren't enjoying it, don't play. And I'm not saying that in a condescending way, genuinely if it isn't fun or enjoyable for you, then why waste your time. I know I wouldn't.
