People seem to conveniently overlook that WoW originally had some pretty strict gating processes, and that bosses dropped I think 3 or 4 loots for a 40 man raid, and there was no Valor points back then. If you scale that to FF14's 8 man raids, that'd mean you kill a boss in Coil and it wouldn't even be guaranteed you'd get a piece of loot at all (because on average it's less than 1 when scaled down), and there would be no mstones at all. I'm sure progress in Coil will be greatly slowed down if you enforce those restrictions, but I don't think that'd make a better game.
Huh?! As much as anyone I know there's a lack of content at end game. I'm a 50 Bard and I'm done with DL and am basically going to be rinsing Coil and WP/AK until 2.1.@Blowfin.
Your post is rude and says nothing productive at all.
Don't tell me what to do you big meanie, I want this game be a great hit, not this same Merry-Go-Round of a MMO.
If I have something to say, I will. Telling me to leave is silly and if people who did have something to say, always get shoo'd
away this game will go down the drain. So thanks for the inspiring comment. Part of the reason 1.0 died because they wouldn't listen to the community.
You want that to happen again?
Does this bother me? No. Does the lack of content now spell the doom and gloom that you're trying to suggest? No. Do they plan to rectify the lack of content with the patch? Yes. Is quitting before 2.1 because of a lack of content a silly idea? Profoundly. What do I do when I run out of things to do? Level LNC, level a craft, or even do something else that's not FFXIV!
If you really want this game to be a success like you've said, then you should be aware that SE themselves have admitted there are deficiencies in the content. You should be quite happy to pay your sub and see what comes with 2.1. Quitting at this very early stage because of a lack of content really is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
Um, of course I don't want to see the game fail. Did 1.0 deserve to fail? Yes, it was terrible to the core. 2.0 however is an excellent game, and does not deserve to fail. There's a big difference.

It was about 8 months or so, not a year and a half. Nov 2004 release and 1.6.1 was July 2005.
@blowfin,
For those clearing coil, CT won't offer much, if it was i90 or i100 I would agree, but its i80 making it more of a stepping stone for non raiders and not very useful for those farming i90 already.
Gold Standard WoW ? What the...!
Like others have stated WoW had less endgame content than this game. And please please don't forget that people weren't able to run Molten Core flawlessy because of server lag/crashes/freezes until 2 month after launch. Here you can run the endgame content already without major hiccups. After that WoW released content at least 4-7 month apart. You had the occasional 2 month content patch but in all the running years of WoW it happened like 3-4 times.
The typical MMO after release is a baseline where a wide variety of content can be added on to depending on the players reactions and needs.
Whoops! Got my times all messed up, thanks for pointing that out, I've fixed it.
A little more on topic though, it is a shame that CT came out so late, but at least it will smooth out the transition from Darklight to i90, and provide a reasonable path for gearing up, as it is right now it would take ~5 months for a fresh 50 to collect enough myth tomes to fully upgrade to AF2 from Darklight/Crafted.

I do have been for weeks, however it is odd that your response to a lack of end game content is just ignore it and keep doing what you have done.
This is exactly the reason Tome caps and Coil lockouts are the way they are, so the majority of the playerbase has something to do in CT. The gating with coil and Myths has been explicitly designed so that we didn't gear up too fast and make CT obsolete.
If you're not a hardcore with alts for running coil already, CT should offer plenty. Personally i'm only guaranteed 1 or 2 lvl 90 items before 2.1 (provided I don't hit the jackpot in coil) which will leave me with plenty of items to upgrade on my main class via CT. Not to mention that i'm going to level WAR pretty soon and will be keen to gear that up in CT too.
