Background music in Coerthas

Not a biggie and a question of personal taste so this is not a demand to fix it. I am only curious and would like to know how others feel about it.

I love most of the music themes in FF and FF14AAR is no different. No matter how long you are in a particular zone, the background music is most of the time very nice, not too dominant and doesn’t get on your nerves.

What I said changed after entering Central Coerthas during Story. The background music in Coerthas is quite organ heavy. But the music puts me in a bad mood and it’s quite depressing so I do not get why they have chosen such an intrusive theme especially since it is a very large map you are going to spend hours and hours with.

I try to avoid the depressing theme by spending most of the time on my companion but while fighting or harvesting, I can’t avoid it so I turn the speakers off because the organs make me crazy lol. Do you like the Coerthas theme and is it only me?

I really like the Coerthas theme. However you are not the first person I've heard to say it puts them in a bad mood.

I personally love the theme. Wish I was in coerthas to hear it more often.

Historically speaking Coerthas used to be all lush and green. Since Meteor it has turned into a iced over wasteland. The "bad mood" is likely a feeling they intended to invoke due to the history the area has.

This, I like the music as well, though I'm hoping they'll use Holy Consort when and if we're allowed to enter Ishgarde

Well, the theme fits the mood of the area. The NPCs even say it, the place used to be lush and green and then Bahamut happened it turned into the north pole. Their struggles with the change in clime is even illustrated in the Botanist storyline. I like the theme, personally.

That's very true and I know that the music is related to what happened to this area and that it makes sense. I still do not like it tho but different strokes for different folks I guess and like I said, it is nothing that needs to be changed.

I adjust my speakers accordingly and everything is fine. From the first responses, it seems that the majority of you like it and I get where you are coming from. FF14ARR is the first FF-Game where I do not get warm with the Story because it's most of the time plain texts which are not dragging me into the World and Story and maybe that's why the Music doesn't connect me with the Story of that zone.

Oh no you had to read? The shame of it all! Honestly, you have no one to blame for not knowing the story other than yourself.

Once upon a time all games had nothing but text as a means of story telling. Oh how lazy gamers have become.
