I'd prefer to have Zelda-esque jumping. All the advantages of jump, without the worry for jump spam or people using it to exploit terrain.

Neither does [insert list item]....... which we all know isn't true. Of course jump adds to the game just like everything listed above.
The purpose is that most of that list is just conveniences & adds immersion. Some add more than others (which is just what jump would do if added. Another user convenience). The point is that Jump is not some entity that magically does nothing if added (which everyone seems to think).
Jump adds or COULD add:
Strategy
Immersion
Freedom of movement & exploration
But anyone who thinks jump doesn't add a single thing to the game is delusional.

Jumping unlimited as well, again.
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
This is pretty sad. 2-3-13 for the voting. With the majority against jumping. :P
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
So basically it's not needed, but since the game already has other things we don't necessarily need it's important to add more?Lrn2Read

No unlimited jump
But I can see a jump up motion on cliffs instead of running the cliff up as there is no cliff. And a falling down motion, too.
Jumping shouldn't be used in combat if its added Only dragoons should be able to jump.
So Strategy wouldn't be implemented by adding it as it wouldn't be usable in combat.
Immersion is broken for a lot of people when they see a 3 foot tall Lalafell jump 6 feet in the air. Or a Roegadyn jump 6 feet in the air using heavy chainmail and a great axe.
The only Jumping that should be used for Exploration should be on a Chocobo. Giving you access to areas that only Chocobos can get to.

Btw:
Risk Analysis in game design literally mean it's not in concrete because things may not go as planned and it's scrapped, hence: Risk analysis.
