Why are people saying Great Sword for Dark Knight, when they used Sycthes in FFXI. They could use a Great Sword, but they had an A in skill rating on Skythes and like a B on Great Swords, meaning the Scythe was the better weapon to be using.

Actually they had A+ skill for Scythes and A- skill for Great Sword. They were more or less equally as competent with both weapons. You'd commonly see DRKs using Great Sword over Scythe due to the better weapon skills available.

Not to mention, if you were a Drk that knew wtf you were doing, you had your Great Sword and Scythe capped (speaking from before the 76-99 lvl increase) so you could close with Light Skillchains if it was needed.

Dark Knight had A+ on Scythe, and A- on Great Swords. At level 99, the difference is a whole 7 skill points. Level 50 and below, there was no difference. And many people preferred the stats on great swords they could use.

Yeah but you are missing the point that in XI, the mentor of the class used a greatsword and your first weapon was a greatsword.

And firstly greatsword was an A- and scythe was an A+ combat rating, secondly scythe was never the best weapon to be using, both had their pros and cons, get your facts straight.

If any CLASS Becomes a DARK KNIGHT, it wouldn't be Marauder, but Gladiator. It would be a DD Gladiator Job... Dark Knights use SWORDS AND SHIELDS, not Axes.

Unless they make it so the DRK job equip uses Greatsword

Yoshi did say he couldn't see them with anything other than a great sword.

I don't want to see scythes. Great Sword was my main weapon on Dark Knight in FFXI and I hated scythes. Even there, I'd rather use an axe than a scythe.
