    Stat cap question

I have 5 crafters at 50 now. I plan to make rosegold 2 star later today.

I plan to make an awesome ring that will overpower a DL piece or possibly even a myth/allagan ring if its possible. Heavy on vitality. What I have noticed when melding is that at times it will give you the red print that shows that you cannot add any more vitality to that ring, it will give you vit + 0 bc of the cap.

Is there a way of knowing what it will cap at so that I can plan my materias out? Instead of waiting to get to the meld screen and attaching a Vit IV, then seeing that my VIT III is going to be capped. Bc if that happens I would have been better off with 2 Vit III's and not even use the IV.

Can you predetermine what the cap will be? Or do you have to wait until you start melding to see what will be capped? Thanks

I believe that is the only way, so hopefully someone has already done it so you don't have to. Try searching online first before you experiment.

Indeed, experimentation is the only way to know for sure. There is an excel database that has been compiled for the crafting gear stat caps, perhaps there is something like that for other gear as well, but I have not seen it. If not, you could be the author! What you are suggesting would actually probably end up costing you more anyway. Since you only get one slot on jewellery, you would be better off attaching a tier IV, and then gambling with the relatively cheap tier I or IIs instead of breaking who-knows-how-many tier IIIs trying to get the forbidden meld.

k great thanks for the replies. i will have to look at some other rosegolds with melds and see whats possible.

I should be ok with 1 forbidden meld, its a 45% chance, so ill nail some III's to it. but after that one i may shoot down to II's.

that answers my question though, thanks.

And I will update what I end up with later tonight

Thanks for the link Vortok, exactly what im looking for, although not much rose gold on here but there are a couple to give me an idea.

And just an update- I ended up owning those 2 rose gold ingots HQ and my rose gold braceletes HQ last night !! Easier than I expected, although I have x3 overmelds on every gsm hq gear i have lol, plus best hq food and five different 50 skills. I was paranoid of losing the mats os I made sure I was at about the best possible stats I could be.
