Password reset is really messed up

My internet provider have dynamic IP. I don't know when exactly but its changes from time to time. In last 7 days I had to reset my password 5 times already. I never had this issue at launch and in beta. Is there any way to switch this stupid protection off?

Your internet provider having a dynamic ip address shouldn't have anything to do with anything... Unless you have a business account or a web page thats the only way you are going to have a static ip address... It sounds like you may have someone hacking into your account, so the password reset is doing what it is suppost to do which is basically locking you out of the account... I personally would try deleting cookies and cache if that doesn't work then you need to contact customer support and report the issue...

Add a security token to your account (either software version on Android/iOS or a hardware token). Having one of those on your account disables the IP protection so it won't bother you any more. That's the only way to get it turned off.

Unfortunatly, no, security token doesn't disable SE IP protection. I often use a VPN (whose machines are located in multiple countries) and, when I turn it off, I get almost everytime an email from SE to change my password even if I use the security token :-(

Changing your IP will result into SE locking your account for suspicious activity and "for your own protection". It happened to a lot of people me included. If you have a dynamic IP, you gonna have to reset your password everytime. Pretty dumb system.

That's the best news I've read all week.
People logging in from different countries is such an obvious red flag.

I have to move pretty much due to work and just changing city makes you change your IP. And its annoying. Posts like yours should just be removed how stupid they are.

A dynamic IP will only change if the modem / router is reset. It will stay the same for the duration it is left on.

This is why some people haven't experienced these problems, because nowadays modems/routers are rarely turned off, so you wouldn't notice the change in IP.

Also there are some isps that issue static ips, I have one and i didnt ask for it and no I do not have a buisness account.

A friend of mine has to change his password everytime his router resets because of his dynamic ip. No one is breaking into his account. He is on the ps3 with a security token too.

Wow thank you for this, Ive been having this happen a couple times and couldnt figure it out. At first I thought it was from messing up on my password once, which I thought was weird, then after a reset a week or so later, it did it again and I didnt even mess up on it lol.
I sometimes shut my modem off when I go out of town, and Im assuming when it comes back up it has a new IP.
