    Famrit -- Post Subs

    Hello Famfrit,

I hope this letter find all of you folks well. I thought it might be a good opportunity to look back at all the excitement we saw in the first month of FF14s re-release and now as our attention has been turned to the players that are actually staying with this game past the free subscription time.

The player base as a whole has grown and the fold of knowledge is quite a bit higher from just a few weeks ago. I know my FC has evolved and I am happy with the new casual raiding environment that has been fostered.

I just wanted to take this time to pop my head up and say hello to all those that I've been playing with over the last few weeks and see if anyone had anything particularly interesting to share.

I think this is a good time to res this post from the graveyard since Famfrit has gone through / is going through some rough patches. Sadly, some of the best players have left our server during the free transfers or have stopped playing together (PC!, old VOID, etc.) Currently the new VOID fc transferred and with it some more good players left our server (and some toxic ones have left, but mostly good, active have left unfortunately).

Even so, I love this server particularly because it isn't overly populated, and I've found some great friends to play with. However, things seem to be going a bit south and the community feel on this place feels lackluster.

Excel was one of the few FCs to do some public events on the server, Choco had some fun as well, but other than that, there's such a low priority on including new players in on content (Really sorry if other FCs are doing public stuff and I'm not aware). There's currently so much priority on trying to burn through chimera-->coil, and while my own FC is included in this category of progression FCs, we still take the time to help others on lvl 50 content (The other day, <Sol> collaborated with <Havoc> to down titan 5 times in one afternoon. Shoutout to Leon who forgot to put his WAR soulstone on, resulting in a hilarious re-run of Titan :P) So I'd just like to ask if anyone would like to do the following:

    1. Organize server events (treasure hunts, crafting give-aways, vanity contest, etc.)
    2. Hosts / leaders for PuG groups on Chimera--> Titan
    3. A new LS for FC leadership (previous one started by Tonka was really inactive)
    4. Any other community events

    Some thoughts on these points-->
    1. Organized events are fun for everyone, but damn hectic to organize. So there are several ways to go about it, but if there are a few good souls out there who have fun putting on some hilarious events, let me know so we can share notes on how to do it. Screenshot contests, beauty contests, easter-egg hunts, crafting-giveaways for trivia are all ideas that I'm pulling off of other servers, so why can't Famfrit do it?

    2. PuGs pugs pugs pugs pugs pugs. They really aren't that bad tbh, and YES they take more than an hour sometimes to do it with such few material rewards. However, I know some very good souls that are willing to help lvl 50s for funsies. Take for example:

I met this gentleman today who volunteered to help some new lvl 50s pug through Titan- he already has his +1 relic, and after wiping several times on Titan, I notice each time after our wipe, he's popping deviled eggs to help the dps on Titan. I was so damn surprised and shocked since I myself wouldn't even think of doing this helping FC mates progress through Titan. Perhaps you're not willing to go to this extent on helping random strangers, but if you're like me and at end-game chilling with some time on your hands, why not help other lvl 50s progress? The thank yous and excitement from the new-relic users is pretty damn worth it in my opinion.

    3. LS leadership---> why do we need one? Well this is more for the 1st point, but it really helps organize events, 8-man content, and coordination of server instances such as Odin. Kind of low on the priority list tbh, and it's great in theory, but who knows how useful it will be in practice. I'd much rather prioritize the first 2 points.

    4. I'm know other people have ideas so please post them or PM me or whatever so we can get the ball rolling on this.

    EDIT:
p.s. I know someone will probably think that I'm trying to take a jab at Titan selling FCs, but honestly I could care less about them. There are more efficient ways of earning money and if those players want to be compensated for helping new lvl 50s on Titan then who cares? Please don't debate that on this thread since it's pointless.

Maybe we can be the next PC. We just lack the "!" in our FC's title. LoL j/k.

In all honesty that is not very many players that have left. They probably left in search of larger populations where the pool for raiding candidates are much more numerous. However, all servers have this similar problem at the current time. The reason we didn't receive any new content beyond the current ilvl gear is because most of the community thru all servers is unable to finish the current progression content, killing twintania. Surfing the progression forums will confirm this. Many FC's are at it but cannot progress beyond it even after the nerf. This stand still battle at twintania has exhausted the current raiders and the selection to choose from or reinforcements to fill those exhausted players also has been pretty much depleted too at this point.

The server still has a ton of veteran players from all sorts of MMOs here though. With the 2.1 patch releasing dungeons that produce ilvl60 gear this will help to increase the selection pool for more raiding candidates and especially help to promote the veteran raiders here, like myself, who have remained casual to be able to jump in to help push progression forward.

I feel the idea of the ilvl60 dungeons and the ilvl 80 raid were specifically targeted at casuals because we have been slacking with farming DL gear and essential gear in order to do progression content but this is mainly due to the fact that preparing to raid requires some amount of time investment which most of the casual population would consider a little too much. At the rate I am going, I would be ready to raid by 2.2 which would be far too late. With 2.1, you can expect the veteran casuals to be able to bolster the forces of current raiding community on famfrit and thru all servers.

With 2.1 we can expect things to change greatly, especially on smaller communities like ours. Do not be caught up in the gossip that ilvl60 and ilvl80 gear was useless because its main purpose is to increase the reinforcements for progression. This will draw out many veteran high end players to the raiding community to help push thru progression content so that by 2.2 we truly deserve new content for having a majority of the community completing the current content.

Hope this information helps the current raiding community here. Keep your heads high cause at 2.1 there will be plenty of fresh recruits and high end veterans jumping in to punch twintania in the face. Good luck from the slugs/casuals of the community

From what I know, Famfrit is still doing decently well. Not as big as it was before all those free transfers, but it's still healthy enough. More so than many other servers out there, at least.

Yea, I've trimmed my FC down from about 300 at the end of the free subs to it's current state of about 80 players. We are active and some of the guys may enjoy playing with people from some of the popular linkshells like windurst knights or flotilla. I almost never run anything outside of the company anymore. I'm not an elitist, I just don't care for asshattery. I believe it was abundantly clear when some of the FC leaders wouldn't join linkshells with other FC leaders that we were going to have a problem. As that played out and some of the leaders went inactive, some left the server and others, like myself, left those linkshells altogether.

Frankly, by and large I don't really like most of the people I meet on the server anymore, so much arrogance, so much venom. Nope, no thanks, I no longer recruit openly. I stay to play with the guys in my company. The idea of forming some type of server unity has sailed off into the distance for me and I kinda doubt that's gonna change. Now you wanna say, oh why isn't anyone reaching out to form bonds with the community? I say, piss off, I don't care about that anymore, as far as I'm concerned the people of famfrit had spoken and they chose to be fragmented.

I don't think you're wrong in any way, and honestly, this is more the picture I've seen on the server than the previous posts. That being said, I'm really bummed that you feel this way, because Nov-Jan is a great time to do server-wide events. I'm not some fluffy bunny that thinks we can create server-unity blah blah blah, but I do think promoting some kind of solidarity between players on Famfrit will better serve our community on the long run. Hux, haven't really chatted with you in-game since Oct, but I do hope you come on board
