Yuri, thanks for sharing. I apologize if I got snippy with you (I've been dealing with Rainsford for a while now, and I may be losing my objectivity when it comes to him/her). I'm glad that you're attempting to add to the conversation with analysis. I think my data really works with your data in a sense. We're both seeing the same thing in that both faeries appear equal. I also agree with your conclusion that Selene and Eos both really have their place.
I'm not a statistician in as such that I have a degree in statistics. My background is in behavioral statistics (applied to hypothesis testing). I've had extensive training in it, but I wouldn't regard myself a statistician. More or less, I regard myself in relation to FFXIV as one person who really wants Scholar to be understood as the complex, wonderfully multi-use class it is.
I also cannot agree enough that the pragmatics are difficult. It's actually probably preferred to look at the faeries from a simulation point of view. However, simulation will really only show a small window of their use. I think that faeries will be an area of contention for a while, and I think you'll have the usual camps. You'll have those who swear that Selene is superior in every way. You'll have those who say Eos is champ. Then you'll have the third camp, in which we both appear to align, stating that both faeries are great tools to be used at the right time.
I do disagree that the faeries are always interchangeable, but I can't really substantiate why. I think that's a feeling-based, opinion-based position. I can say that my group has cleared Coil 1-4 with either faerie. I think that player ability and gear are much more correlated with healing than the faerie choice ever will be. Maybe some day I'll work on accounting for healing output with the various variables (skill, gear, faerie, food, etc). Maybe.
