Pretty much. XI's title system was basic till Abyssea rolled around which then gave them further implementations.

Like how in FFXI having certain titles give you great stat and enhancement bonuses in Abyssea via Atmas? E.g killing any of the Wyrm HNMs give you an amazing Dragoon synthetic Atma:



So yeah, it is far more useful and much more beneficial to gameplay when you think about it.

Yeah, though I was thinking along the lines of Aion. I don't know what FFXI's done with titles recently.
