FFXI NPCs have had unique appearances throughout the game, it's important for NPCs to have distinct appearances. People shouldn't expect to be able to imitate every major character in the game.
    This isn't entirely true.

Professor Shantotto's appearance was completely doable by players, and she was the best NPC in that entire game (if you disagree, you are of course objectively wrong, Shantotto forever)

Though since we're on the subject of clothing, is there a way for players to get equipment that looks like the outfit a lot of Ul'dahn citizen NPCs wear? It's dark-colored with gold trim, sort of Persian-looking, and there's art for it in the book that came with the CE. It's neat.

What she's wearing depends entirely on if the OP is trying to copy her for the doppleganger contest or not (*'-')

Edit: No, I don't actually know if what she's wearing is attainable in game.

For all the silliness about White Mage artifact, it is a variant of the set if you paid attention to the quest text. At least Raya-O-Senna and A-Ruhn-Senna wear "special" White Mage clothing to protect themselves during the ritual to soothe the Guardian Tree. The other two prominent Padjal are likely White Mages too, though I wouldn't know if their robes serve the same purpose or if they have another set for the rituals stowed away in the wardrobe.

But yeah, as others have said, I've yet to see it being obtainable. 'tis quite nice. Or well, I suppose males would get some more coverage... even though we've shamelessly worn subligars and bikinis like the best of them. <_<

For Kanash, if you care, neither of the Arcanist Job quest NPCs are Summoners or Scholars either. You encounter NPCs of the trade during the Job storylines, but the quest givers are a Miqo'te archeologist in Gridania and Lalafell Marauder in Limsa Lominsa, respectively.

Her younger brother is wearing the same item, looks a little odd on a male though. I wish SE would fix his hair style, that is one bad hair-do. Almost as bad as the one Spok's father has in the Into Darkness film

Not exactly, A-Ruhn's clothes are somewhat similar, but not the same.

It is something semi-unique. The closest equivalents would be Battlemage's Robe (from Brayflox) or Acolyte's Robe (lowbie dungeons), but in a white color. Still not the exact style though.

Because he's Alhanelem and he works for a fansite, so of course that means he is always right and everyone else is wrong.

PLD questgiver is in partial PLD AF (bodypiece only), but that's because the PLDs are Ul'dah's special guard unit the Sultansworn and their uniform is PLD AF, with the questgiver, Jenlyns, is their captain.

Hmm fair enough. Seems its only the warrior then.
