I don't understand the arbitary class restrictions on some gear

that's the problem of merging ideas from 2 people that have different visions.

when they introduce at least 2 jobs per class with differing primary stats and roles, then the point allotment would make a little more sense.

Yoshi-P did make a statement about traits that totally alter an existing ability to make it viable for a second job. He used DRK coming off of GLA as an example, not saying that this is confirmed.
