Sadly they said no to this a long time ago when answering the question in a Live Letter. But here's hoping they renege on that particular point of view.

I really don't understand why they couldn't do something so simple as this, which was done so very well in FFXI (a much older and dated game).

They basically gave a lame cop-out answer of "It would take too much time and resources to do this right now. So, no." Blah blah blah.
