Got my 33 Lancer clad in steel scale, since its the strongest armor/ac I can wear. Grouped in Brayflox's we get a chest with aetherial steel scale gaunts. Just what I needed. BUT, for some unknown reason, I cant roll Need... Are you kidding me??? Says its not for my class, which is bullcrap. Lists Lancer and Dragoon. So, the tank, who can wear the heavy armor and doesn't really need scale, rolls Need and takes the gloves...

So, if this is how its going to be from here on out, is there any good reason I should continue this frustration? And how could this not have been addressed before?

solution: run dungeon 4-5 times, outlevel it, buy better armor

Another solution, stop running with PUGs, get into a good FC and get people who are willing to run through with you to help you get the gear from the dungeon (IE: they'll pass if you need the item drop even though you can't "need" it)

this reminds me i always get crap everytime i go to dungeons due to story progression. thats why i rather lvl my crafting instead lol

Unfortunately i too found while running dungeons in the early parts before Fates were the "thing", that a lot of the items were not accounted for in rolling Need correctly. Don't be discouraged though, loot around the higher levels starts rolling correctly for the most part and your old gear gets quickly replaced as you level.

It use to be for anyone to roll need/greed on till people started being greedy by needing stuff for tanks as mage and vice versa and thats when SE changed it to be stat based so if the game doesn't read it as super useful for you then it won't allow you to need on the item.

There seems to be some continuing confusion about the aetherial scale that drops from brayflox. While drg and lnc can equip them, they have stats balanced for tanks, mainly equal amounts of physical and magical defense. There is also a set for Drg and lnc that is stat oriented for them, you can identify these because the magic defense will be significantly lower than the physical defense and you will be able to roll need for them.

Best attitude for most MMOs is to not care about gear until lvl 50, as the devs probably didn't put much time or effort into balancing stats for your class before then.

At least it's an improvement over the old way, where people could need roll things they shouldn't even be using. Such as a WHM rolling on pure INT gear and such.

Could be worse. I have never once, not ever, won a lot. For anything. Ever. Only loot I've ever gotten was when everyone else passed on it. And it's never something the job I'm on can use.
