The lockout has affected me personally. I had to choose between two groups of friends to run Coil with. Was awkward. :[

The guys who fear loot selling seriously underestimate the value of people's time. Even in games where it's trivial to sell loot, you usually don't have very much loot selling because people have better things to do with their time than running the same raid over and over again. If they're doing it, it's almost always related to RMT in some way, because there's rarely any other reason why a powerful group of people would need a large amount of in game currency. So if you're afraid of that, just crack down on the RMT guys. Let's say I can solo Coil by myself and can always add people at will to loot and I offer to sell you whatever drops for 1 million gil. But if I'm this unbelievably powerful character who can do things that completely defy comprehension, why would I need your gil? The only reason I can think of is if I'm trying to sell that gil back for money, because I sure won't need it for anything else.

Well, the FC housing motivates having a lot of in-game currency...
