Frankly I want to know what was going through the modeler's minds, when they decided to make the helmet on a plate armor suit, part of the chest piece. Take about lazy. Here's how you fix it. Make a new model with individual helm, and replace the lame suit they have now.

They can do the same with cowls. Make the robe and hood separate pieces.

I mean it's bad enough this game has all of like five gear models until end game. So its not like they have billions of models to worry about.

Seriously, are characters pulling the armor on like a sweatshirt?

If we're talking looks, it's really just a variation on the heavy iron armour, heavy steel armour, high mithril armour and heavy darksteel armour. The fact that heavy darksteel and darklight are both i70 makes it even worse because there isn't even an i70 alternative to the dreaded heavy armour set. Even the i55 one star craft, militia set, is basically the iron/steel/mithril/cobalt cuirass sets. SE really didn't try with plate at all.

This is what I put in the massive suggestion thread before. It shouldnt be too hard (could be wrong of course), to split them, and just make it where the Chest equips a 'fake' helm (and pants equip 'fake' boots) that act like the normal item, just without stats (to force the look only. Then have it where unequipping the fake item also unequips the real, or just make it where you cant unequip them.

It can also be new gear coming with a later update.
i'm sure making a complete new helmless version of the gear is less work than changing how the already finished gear model work.

i would love this, but really... what they need to do instead, is before they start REALLY using the heavy plate asset for more gear, they need to split it, into a chest and helmet as individual items.

The longer they wait to do this, the more armor sets they'd need to actually modify for it to work. They do it now and they have what? three sets that currently use this asset?

And don't think i didn't see the warrior in the wolve's den part of the 'A Realm Awoken' trailer wearing the new pvp heavy plate set without the damn helmet SE! i know you can already do it!

I seem to be in the 1% who actually likes the Heavy Darklight quite a bit. I'm personally not in love with the Valor gear actually, mostly because of the circlet. It's a silly piece that could be replaced with something much more tanky, if you ask me. I feel the same way with the Allagan tanking gear as well. The only piece I do like from that set is the helmet. But I seem to have awkward tastes at best, according to all my friends.

I do agree the fact that there is no separate neck motion throws me off a little, but not to the point it seems to annoy most people.

Also note Jousting is a game, not actual combat.

The simple fact that in DL (or other such armor) you stare away from your target during combat makes it unreasonable. Using Jousting as justification is comparing apples to fried chicken.
