    Auto Attack would be a step back if they do it without any other changes or make it like FFXI.
    I cant say if this is a step back since we have no idea what they are planning except that AA will be in there.

    Even though, im interested in how they will do it with the new Hate system e.t.c, and how much hate it will build or if it wont even build any in the first place, liker only TP attacks or provoke skills.
    And if the keep the stamina system.

    But one thing that i really liked about the new Letter is, that Yoshi will post a video of it.

    I'm trying to be optimistic seeing as they are planning on going through with this. That being said, people that are complaining about having to 'spam' 1 and such, this is an invalid argument. It is not necessary for people to spam. I play this game frequently and I do not need to spam. I played one of the most intensive attacking classes to the cap, and I never felt I was spamming at all.

    People forcing themselves to press 1 repeatedly is something they have developed themselves. It is actually something created from their own impatience and of course the latency between the press of a button and the action being performed. Auto-attack to me seems like it is just going to subtract player input. Which...I'm somewhat against because I don't see auto-attack making anything faster. Player impatience will still be there, but now they can only watch and don't have an attack button to spam in their impatience now.

    We will most likely hear complaints of nothing to do while waiting for TP to be gained. Which lessens the overall immersion of fighting. However, I am going to give the system a chance, see how it works. I will try it, but I'm skeptical. Up until now I've never felt like I needed to spam, I never felt not engaged by battle, and I never had problems communicating to my party members through text.

    Erm...what?

    I'm guessing you mean that if they copy WoW, auto-attack will be kind of like extra damage done by your class because your class/jobs will be balanced around their on-use abilities and spells. I don't see that happening because of the fact all classes share the same resource system (TP).

    I agree on it being lame if they copy FFXI's auto-attack, because there's a good chance haste would make a second coming as the premiere melee stat and weapon delay would make or break classes.

It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    FFXI Auto attack was great, it just lacked the ability to do any other attacks unless you have TP for it but the system worked great. Especially after haste gear and what not you didn't stand around waiting for 2 hours to swing your weapon and TP flowed constantly. This game is already different because you will always have TP and can do some attacks for as low as 250 TP.

    The game would have benefited from the jobs having their own resource system. TP in XI favors classes with fast weapons, even moreso back when the old TP floor existed. Multi-hit weapons broke the system even more, giving anyone who could wield a weapon in their offhand a notable advantage.

    Weapon delay was also partly to blame for all this, but all of it is tied to how TP was affected by auto-attack (which by extension included Haste, weapon delay and Store TP).

    People completely against Auto Attack are thinking way too much FFXI. The difference between FFXI and FFXIV is the fact that a class didn't have that many abilities to begin with and TP generation was slow - in this game I believe what they'll do is turn some normal abilities into TP generated ones, such as Sentinel for gladiator for instance (although not necessarily that one) and keep TP generation fast and furious to the point that you will always be involved in the fight, you wont be always spending TP on weapon skills constantly because you have other more important uses for it, and you wont just be sitting there doing nothing but auto attack.

    no it wont because there going to shadow 11s system...ask people at lvl cap if the still dont want auto attack. It was a good thing at first..now its just tedious; especially with battle speed increasing.
