    Auto-attack is a step backward.

    I loved FFXI and I'm all for making this game more like an HD version of FFXI but this is one of those features that I think is just dated. Especially an auto-attack system like the one in XI. Auto-attack makes the player even less involved and you ultimately end up just watching your character more often than you are actually playing.

    Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the current system is spectacular but it's definitely miles ahead of an auto-attack system.

    I can't be the only one who feels this way. I'm very afraid for the future of this game if the auto-attack change goes through.

    I agree, seems lame. Although if they do it like WoW nobody will ever use it. But if they do it like FFXI, super lame.

    So in other words, either way they implement it, it's still a pointless feature.

    I dont get how its a step backwards when in the old days there was no auto attack! it was button mashing.

    I want auto attack, im happy for it. I hate button mashin

    At first ages ago i was skeptical about an auto attack feature but now since its comming i can see it fits into this sort of game, i mean really there proberly isnt much Pros to having to repeatidly slam down the same actions constantly, it frees yourself up for the use of other actions more quickly, seeing as you always have to have yourself hovering over the first action slot it can make it more tedious than it should be to have to constantly scroll left and right up and down and then shifting all the way back to the Number 1 slot again, macros help alleviate it somewhat, it does lead things open for lazy people leeching standing there with an auto attack going off but i dont think things like that should prevent changes that make it more fun to do what you need to do.

    The whole targetting system with only one claimed mob or group per party i feel is one of thos sort of things to counter act some sort of shameful holding of everything, but then obviously we get hit by being punished for using all of the aoe actions given to use to be useful, but thats another thread~!

    Think of the satisfaction you get when taking out an enemy solo by a stroke of brilliance. Or the supreme exhilaration you feel when pwning entire hoards of foes by playing out your party role to perfection. Now, in contrast, imagine a person who, with only half his heart in the battle, struggles to dispatch the enemy. This kind of range in experience is what we’re aiming for with the reformed battle system—a system that rewards effort and innovation.
    If they implement a system half as good as what this sounds like, auto attacking isn't going to get you very far in a battle.

    definitely miles ahead. Honestly, Auto-attack will compliment this game's battle system well. It allows the player to not have to worry about spamming the 1 button, but instead focus on using abilities effectively. This is a huge step forward in improving the game, in my opinion.
