Just wondering what successful parties choose to go in order of nodes.

Both are viable for success. If you have more piercing damage, go left. If you have more magic damage, go right. Some people say going left and dodging ballast is easier than going right and dodging the fire aoe, but I think both mechanics are workable.
I've always gone left, but we've had 2 Bards, 1 BLM and a melee DPS.
My group goes right, we only have one bard in our group and it is easier to recover a high voltage after the fire AOE than the ballast AOE. IMO the left route takes longer on the smaller nodes.
We seem to have some difficulties on the allagan rot.
if you have lots of melee dps rot is going to be tougher, but for the most part what we do is have 5 people (3 range dps and 2 healers) and basically the first person gets it, then runs it to a healer between 5-8 seconds remaining, and stays there. Then the rest of the 5 run in one at a time between 5-8 seconds and stays there until all have gotten rot. From then on all they have to do is stay stacked up and it passes automatically. just dodge the laser and you gtg but stay stacked
Us: Pld, War, Wh, Sch, Brd, Brd, Drg, Blm
We go right so we don't have to deal with Pacman and gravity wells. Getting rid of gravity wells makes dealing with rot a lot easier. And getting rid of pacman keeps the drg from getting coned. Dodging Prism Lazer, and Firestorm* isn't difficult. Chain lightning can be rough though so don't stack up to tight.
Every person in our group is in Full DL, or Vanya Gear with materia, the tanks have 2+ pieces of AF1.5. Everyone has relic and all the dps have +1. Going the right route we arive at the ads with 8 clicks or 7.5 clicks remaining. Downed the ads tonight with 2 clicks left.
Having 2+ melee on this fight makes it rough, it's not optimal, but not impossible. We pretty much decided from day 1 that we would only have one melee for the ST LB.
Also going right puts a buff on the boss that resists piercing dmg, so it makes it easier to manage threat for the tanks, because Silence generates more threat than flash. If you go left you need a paladin to silence the first high voltage before a bard does it because the tanks taunt off and one silence from the brd during a taunt off will pull the ads. Two paladin's can do the silence, but you shoudl go right if you do that. If you go left tanks have to taunt off while silencing while dodging pacman which is really difficult. Tanks can silence no prob if all they have to worry about is firestorm.
